Kim Kardashian could tell me what water is wet and I'd ask for 4 confirming opinions and a Congressional inquiry.

Kane has much more credibility.

I don't think he'll ever be a free agent either. Far too good a player

Also sounds like he could be lobbying a bit for Bickell to stay there.

Kane isn't dumb. He has to realize if he makes it to the open market that Pegula would give him 10 mil a year. 7/70 is what I'd offer, maybe even 11 per. That's what it'll take to leave a champion to come to a loser team.

Does anyone remember if Kane did a public event in Buffalo for his last "day with the Cup"? Would be great to attend that if he does something for the public this year. I have a great picture of myself and some friends with Brian Gionta the year he won it with the Devils.

Yes, he went to Roswell Park. Left the cup in the lobby for a few hours while visiting a few patients. He later rented a roller skating rink in West Seneca and Kane and his friends played floor hockey for the cup. Beyond that, not sure what else he did

Kane's whirlwind day began at Niagara Falls, where he held the Cup aloft in a soaking mist and posed for pictures before being awarded the key to the city of Niagara Falls.

LS: and then this happened while in downtown Buffalo - After a stop at a nearby construction site of a global vascular institute to share the Cup with ironworkers, Kane mingled with a large group of Buffalo policemen and firemen.

Afterward, he was hoisted high into the sky on the ladder of a firetruck that malfunctioned, and Kane was suspended three stories over the city before it was repaired and (LS: after 20 minutes) he and the Cup were slowly lowered to the ground.

"It was a little scary, but anything with this (Cup) is unexpected," Kane said. "I'm just happy I'm out."

He'll be on the Hawks forever.

I had a bet with a poster here, forget who it was, that if Kane ever leaves Chicago I have to make my avatar Bieber for an entire season.

It's not impossible that he'd leave the Hawks but the days of players like Kane getting to free agency are over. He and Toews will sign extensions next season because why wouldn't they? Even if for the sake of argument he would like to leave one day, he'd be an idiot to leave over the next few years. So he signs his extension, it'll be for the max 6 years (that's the new max, right), so best case scenario is in 6 years when he's playing on his expiring deal.

It's fair to say that no one knows what happens between now and then but a reasonable person would look at this as an extremely unlikely thing to happen and not waste any more time thinking on it.

That's all-around a pretty cool day with the cup. Having a floor hockey game w/ friends to "win the Cup" sounds like something I'd do in his situation.

10 mil for a winger who doesn't excel physically or defensively. Not a chance.

I may be wrong but I thought the max was 7 years to sign with a different team as a UFA and 8 years with your current team.

That then. He'll sign an 8 year extension next season, meaning 9 more seasons before he could be a UFA.

It's a trade ff and challenge....

I agree with the prior poster said of Kane beng in a fishbowl if he played here. Look at how devisive fans are locally about hm. If Kane came here there would be a simlar split but raised to the nth degree.

His personal life would be under a microscope as well.

Why would he come here....he knows how fans feel about wanting a cup and if he brings that he will have a statue outside the arena just like Jordan does outside the arena in Chicago. Kane knows he can't top Jordan in Chicago. It's a long legacy he likely wouldn't get in Chicago.

Kane will be a sabre

When he's 36 and we give him a stupid contract for a player far past his prime

What are the chances of Patrick Kane coming home?

His contract expires after next year. The Sabres will most likely have the cap space.
I doubt the sabres will have a shot. But its interesting to think about.

Although, bowman pretty much said they will lock kane and toews down forever. They will certainly have to move a number of players to do that though.

Thoughts?
