How does Drouin drop to six ?

I could possibly see someone wanting Barkov, or even Nich over him, but surely if that were the case somebody would happily trade up to grab him.

Don't see him going past 3/4 realistically.

Not by so much. Ask the new SC champs about that (and BTW Toews is one of my favourite non-Sabres who obviously also has a huge influence there).

Drouin is probably the most naturally talented player in the whole draft. I'd be pretty surprised if he made if past three, gobsmacked if it was past four.

If yours was the scenario that played out, I'd be willing to put a decent trade package together from the Sabres to move up to 4/5/6 and get him.

we'll see... I think he could be a guy who drop depending on what happens at the top

Colorado won't take him #1. But I could see Colorado taking him if Fla/TB are willing to pay to move up
Florida needs a center, I see them trading up for Mackinnon, or taking Barkov 2
TB is quietly hoping Seth falls right in their laps
Nashville desperately needs a center, and wants Barkov... but I could see them taking Lindholm over Drouin
Carolina... could definitely take Drouin, if he falls here, I could see them selling the pick HARD, and Calgary trading up 1 spot to get him.

The mock pick is correct... if it is to the right team.

That would be unreal if Drouin slipped that far! At that point, I would hope Darcy is throwing as much as he can at each team until he finds a way to bump up a few spots to get him. I just don't see Drouin falling out of the top 4, or maybe 5 at the absolute worst. It still wouldn't shock me if he went 1 or 2.

1 COL Nathan Mackinnon
2 FLA Aleksander Barkov
3 TB Seth Jones
4 NAS Elias Lindholm

Is that prediction really that far out?

If someone wanted Barkov or Lindholm over him, they would surely trade down.

Both are lesser players than Drouin, thus making your positional preference theory a moot point. I don't see two (let alone three) teams reaching that much purely for position/style of player.

No, I don't think it's really far out, but I think we could agree that Nashville is hurting for elite offensive players. Indeed Lindholm does project into being an outstanding player, possibly a number one center, of which are in high demand. However, I really think Drouin is the under-rated member of the big 3 or 4. I feel like this is the kind of player you can build around and he could provide that pure offensive production, and again for a team like Nashville that may be just too enticing should he fall.

I respect the conclusion you've come to because it's based on your extensive viewing of the player being discussed.

I wouldn't be overtly surprised if Drouin played center in the NHL, but I also wouldn't be surprised if some teams wondered if his 400% increase is productivity isn't mainly due to riding Mac's wing and is an aberration. While looking at Lindholm's and Barkov's performance in better leagues playing against men as positives that give them a slight edge. It all breaks down to what each team covets? A team like Nashville that is starved for an elite center would probably have one of the Euro's higher while a team like Tampa that already has centers in place would prefer Drouin or Nichuskin.

agreed...
I have Drouin (#4) ranked ahead of Lindholm (#6)
But I look at the way my mock was going, and I think Nashville takes Lindholm over Drouin.
And then I see Carolina moving down... and Feaster finally having a chance to sell something to the fan base (Drouin), and trading a late 1st to move up 1 spot for Drouin.

When Drouin doesn't go top 3... I expect #4 and #5 to start fielding offers from #7 / #8

Yeah, um, look at what he did in the games when MacKinnon was injured for a couple weeks. I think his production actually went UP, or at least stayed at the same pace.

He is Pat Kane v2.0 and IMHO is not going past #2 in the draft.

#1 Colorado - Nathan Mackinnon
#2 Florida - Sasha Barkov
#3 Tampa Bay - Seth Jones
#4 Buffalo - Jonathan Drouin (This top 3 is the only scenario where Darcy actually can move up to get one of Drouin, Mack, and Barkov which are the guys i think he wants) Not sure what would need to be added to the 8th overall to get it done but I cant see it not being worth it.
#5 Carolina - Valeri Nichushkin
#6 Calgary - Sean Monahan
#7 Edmonton - Darnell Nurse
#8 Nashville - Elias Lindholm (Great trade for Nashville if they trade back and still get a top Center which is what they need)
#9 New Jersey - Hunter Shinkaruk
#10 Dallas - Bo Horvat
#11 Philadelphia - Nikita Zadorov
#12 Phoenix- Max Domi
#13 Winnipeg - Frederick Gauthier
#14 Columbus - Curtis Lazar
#15 New York Isles - Rasmus Ristolainen
#16 Buffalo - Anthony Mantha
#17 Ottawa - Ryan Pulock
#18 Detroit - Valentin Zykov
#19 Columbus - Ryan Hartman
#20 San Jose - Adam Erne
#21 Toronto - Kerby Rychel
#22 Calgary - Shea Theodore
#23 Washington - Alexander Wennberg
#24 Vancouver - Nicholas Petan
#25 Montreal - Samuel Morin
#26 Anaheim - Arturri Lehkonen
#27 Columbus - Josh Morrissey
#28 Calgary - Zach Fucale
#29 Dallas - J.T. Compher
#30 Chicago - Madison Bowey

Sabres get 2 game breakers. We need wingers and this answers our call.
