im ok with this move ..... takes away another scapegoat ..... hopefully mason will return to his early career form ..... very happy that this built in excuse has been removed from those who see 'puck in net, goalie's fault

I'm surprised that with all the cap space we'll have I haven't seen a Shea Weber rumor yet.

It would be lovely to pry Weber away from Poile, especially after making him pay those two bonuses.

Which is exactly why he will never be traded.

The only players I think Holmgren sees as safe are Giroux, B. Schenn, Voracek, Simmonds, Timonen, Streit, and L. Schenn. If I was Holmgren I would add couturier to that list if i was him, but I don't think he sees it that way

he didn't do well on the ice but i feel bad for bryz because of how bad the media treated him. but that's pretty much how they are in general.

if boston doesn't re-sign him for whatever reason what would you think of nathan horton?

Wow! This can't be cheap. One might wonder if Holmgren is unsafe now? That's a lot of money too lose.

He's not a scapegoat if he actually sucks and is a major part of the problem, you know.

It was Ed Snider wanting a goalie after not being able to put up with our goalie carousel in the playoffs the prior year. Holmgren was just following the bosses orders in getting the best goalie available (at the time Bryz), the contract was/is awful but I wouldn't pin it solely on Holmgren, Snider is really to blame as well.

Edit: Snider is quickly become the Al Davis (kind of Jerry Jones) of the NHL.

This team just go sooo much better from addition by subtraction and another year for schenn and couts. I know mason is not crazy good over the past few years but I really think he could be good and good for our system. Good on breakways and odd man rushes that happen with a offensive system.

I think mason Thomas combo for a year and then see what's what. Save the money and sign guys like couts and schenn for nothing compared to what they may make after next year if productive. Team could be staked with great contracts ready to fill holes in a two years or so to make a run at it. A good pick like zadrov and a easy offseason puts this club on a great path.

the best part of all this (other then Bryz actualy being gone for realz of course) is the way, Homer said Bryz was not being bought out/traded earlier, cuz goaltending wasnt part of the problem..

hahah.. then right after the cup final bryz is axed the next morning..

sweet revenge..

haahh i'll sleep VERY well tonite.
