Timonen - Schenn
Streit - Coburn
Gustafsson - Grossmann

is a fantastic defense. There is no reason to screw with that right now.

Coburn needs to stay.
I think your overrating Coburn alittle. Coburn has played against them but (other than the Pitt series last season) has not faired well at all. If you can get an asset and not lose too much replacing him I think you go for it.

I dont hate Coburn but I also dont think he cant be replaced. He has played against good competition but doesnt do well against them. Plus Grossmann does a pretty damn good job each time he faces Malkin and such. Alot better job than Coburn.

Im sure the rumors will start churning up soon. Once we get to the buyout period and around Thursday I say the rumors will be in full swing. Just need to practice a little patience here haha. Of course two teams that will be prominent in trade rumors will be Philly(we always are and a very large market) and Toronto(the REAL hockey mecca, looking at you Pittsburgh!). I'm sure we will see a couple today also, it is bound to be an exciting time.

I agree with this. He is a good player but if we can upgrade our team by trading Coburn we should do it. But we need to have a plan to bring in another top 4 defender. Couturier is way more important to slowing down guys like Malkin and Ovechkin than Coburn is.

Fantastic? No , Potentially yes but so many question marks.

Can Kimmo Last a whole season?

Can Gus be able to perform at the level he was at the end of the year

Can Streit age gracefully?

Ray Emery will have options. Among them, the Philadelphia Flyers. Nabokov will likely be of some interest to the Flyers as well.

That will make it worse than having Bryz. Do not want any part of Nabby.

Beating a dead horse, but can Emery's fixed zombie hip stand up to a full season as starter?

I think he can still handle 30-35 games if needed. It's definitely a concern though. I wouldn't really feel comfortable giving him two years but that would be my absolute max for years with #1B goalie type money.

I don't want Nabakov at all. That guy makes Bryzgalov look like Vladimir Tretiak.

You under rate the effect of Grossmann being paired with Coburn has on his ability to be effective against a line like Malkin's. Grossmann is great from the blueline back but having a partner like Coburn covers up for him especially against teams that does a lot of stretch passes.

I don't think Coburn is untradeable but these posts from people (not necessarily you) to trade him for a late round 1st then sign guys like Ian White, Hainsey, etc is ridiculous. Unless they are going on a full blown rebuild why trade Coburn for picks?

Role with the d like it is and see if Gus, Laurisden can grab the bull by the horns.

I can't see either goaltender succeeding with a ratio like that. Very hard to get in a rhythm like that

GMs can't comment on other teams players so it's not a surprise he blew off that question. Come tomorrow when Boberto is bought out he will be making the calls the see what it will take to get him here. Hopefully something discounted with all the money he will already be making.

The fact that Emery ended the regular season with a lower-body injury worries me. I know he was on the bench in the playoffs, but when you have options, why opt for a question mark unless the price is too good to pass up?

Grossmann's concussions are starting to accumulate.

The Bryzgalov buyout leaves the #Flyers with ~$4.1M in cap space with close to a full roster. http://www.capgeek.com/flyers/

good to know.

If Im not mistaken, we'll have around 10m in space, if not more.

Pronger LTIR, Briere bought out, Bryz bought out.

With pronger on LTIR, if we trade Meszaros for some pancakes, that should be around 12-13mil in space to work with.
