Even though its only two spots higher i could see NJ trading back a couple of spots to pick up an asset. It's Lammy's style and their head scout Conte is one of the best in the biz.

Could help us move up to get Nurse.

As long as we don't send Read to NJ.

Read would **** all over us for the next decade if he's saddled in that system.

I'd rather take Risto/Mantha/Shinkaruk if they are still on the board.

I don't see the Flyers trading with NJ in the first place but even still I think if they move up they'll have their sights set on inside the top 5 or bust.

Uggh why are people so psyched to trade Read? I see no reason we can't re-sign him, unless I suck at estimating the cap.

There's a chance if he hits the open market we won't be able to compete with other teams offers in terms of money.

I don't think it would cost Read. IIRC NJ assigns point values to each pick and will make moves based on that value. I could see 11 + 41 for 9 + 69.

Based strictly on rankings, that's: Nurse 9th + Dahlstrom 69th for Zadorov 11th + Desrosiers 41st. I have bought into the hype that Nurse is going to be a top pairing D some day soon.

Besides it just feels unnatural for the Flyers to actually have a second rd pick.

Holmgren just chose to hold onto a 2nd this year because he doesn't have to wake up early for it. Probably not a morning person.

Button loves him- stating something along the lines of he's the best goalie prospect as he's seen in some years. I don't believe in taking goalies that early, but considering the problems we have had at the position, it would be hard to really knock the pick if the team thought as highly of him.

I don't know, watching highlights of Morin, the kid is Chara huge and can skate a little bit. Would be interesting to have him on our blue line.

Not in a long time, he said he is best 17 yr old goalie he's ever seen.

There's talk that Calgary might even take Fucale in the top 10.

Apparently Homer said on WIP today that he would be more interested in moving down than up from the #11 pick. Can anyone confirm this?

Homer usually does the opposite of what he says but I thought it was still interesting.

I thought that could be the case.

Ristolainen or Nurse would be awesome, but you can get awesome talent later in the draft too.

More is better.

Morin + Morrissey > Ristolainen/Nurse.

Yeah I thought that's what he said. Was too lazy to check again. There haven't been a ton of great goalie prospects of late. It's been about a decade- Fleury in 03 and Lehtonen in 02 was highly regarded as well. Teams have seen how those guys have turned out and have been hesitant to pull the trigger early in the draft.

If thats the case, they might want to trade back up to the 11th wit the 22 and 28. Would be a nice deal for the Flyers.

No trading back please. There's a stud to be had at 11, can we please take one of them and not hope for something in the 20's?

This is my thinking, too. Take the unusually high naturally obtained (ie, not traded for like 2 years ago) pick and take BSA (best skater available). No to Furcale; goalies are too volatile on whom to take a chance with an early pick in a deep draft.

I don't think they will just move back for the sake of moving back. I think he's just saying if he makes a move it will be likely moving back since moving up will be so costly.

I'd rather just take Ristolainen at #11. There seems to be little reason to doubt that he will be an effective NHL player. I like the thought of Morin and Morrissey just as much as the next, but I don't feel safe enough passing up on Risto just to walk away with some more quantity. That would be the epitome of high risk/high reward.

Let's get Risto and let him spend time in the AHL immediately. He seems to be everything a team could want with not much risk of amounting to nothing. I'm glad to see McKenzie's rankings reflect what I've felt all along-- this is a kid with high reward/low risk. I'd rather have him than any other defender in the draft besides Jones.

And if we want another 1st, then we consider other options (Read/Coburn). I used to be in favor of trading down, but not anymore. I'm on the Ristolainen train here. If he's off the board, I'd consider moving down, but I like General Zad, too. So many intriguing prospects this year.
