Flyers Waive 3/Is Baumgartner better than Streit?

I'm asking because he's on waivers. And so are Dimitrakos and Nedved.

I guess Clarke is having a fit ...

I'd take a fit too after last night's debacle in Buff. The Flyers looked like they were standing around.

And, no Baumgartner is NOT better than Streit. Baumer is Dan McGillis-light. A slow-moving, formerly tough player with some offence who can't cope with the new rules on interference and especially holding. He's a pylon.

Nedved would be an interesting option for us if we din't have Radek... we can't afford him though.

I'd rather use Traverse than Baumgartner.

NO to Baumgartner. 1.2 M per year for next year as well is too big of a contract for us to pick up with our cap situation.

Baumgartner is not more than a #8 defenseman imo.......no need to take this guy except for pyloning in practices!

Flyers Waive 3

The team placed defenceman Nolan Baumgartner and forwards Niko Dmitrakos and Petr Nedved on waivers.

Wow I wonder how pissed Clarke is right now.
9-1 = heads roll!

Could we afford Nedved? Should we acquire him?

I do not think the habs should go after him, although he did look respectable on the PK in Philly I really do not see the upside of having him on the Habs!

As do I. I'd prefer him on the 4th than Murray and Downey.

I don't think the Habs need any of them, we'd have to get rid of someone in return and I don't know if it's even worth it.

What a reactionary idiot Clarke is. Anyone who makes big roster moves based on blowout loss doesn't deserve to sit in the GM's chair.

I like how $1.2 mil Baumgartner takes the fall instead of $3.2 Hatcher.

Clarke should waive himself for failing to understand the realities of the new NHL.

I may be wrong but it may smell something esle than just overeaction. Maybe clarke is creating cap space for a goalie (trade) and/or free agent (leetch?)

Currently, I'd go with Streit before Baumgartner. And ontop of that, it's Streit's second season, still lots of time for improvement. I truely think he'll be a permanent member of Montreal's top 6 in a year or two.

Bonk is a much better player than Nedved...Nedved has been horrible the last 3 or 4 years, he's done.

For some reason the Flyers thought they could turn him into a checking center...yeah right

Same goes for Streit vs. Baumgartner

Replacing nedved's salary with leetch's doesn't solve anything. What they need are a couple of fleet-footed D-men, a couple of shutdown forwards, and a passable goalie. Clarke has just built a crappy team, and no quick-fix will resolve that.

Clarke should of made these moves a long time ago...

Bobby Clarke = most overrated GM in the NHL the last 10 years.

Leetch would definitely be an upgrade on the PP, though. It doesn't surprise me that Nedved's getting waived, though, because he makes too much for what he brings to that team. I'm neither here nor there on Niko.. haven't seen him much.

How long until Bobby Clarke make a big trade. If they lose there next two or three games, will see a major shakeup in Philly.
