I pick myself. I'm very cap friendly (AAV $70,000 and I have my own equipment already), I won't mind talking to the media at all ("Okay, Timmy, ask me about that breakaway save and this time I'll answer like Porky Pig, okay?"), and I don't mind getting hit by things. I put up the second best SV% in my two-team rec league three years running!

Its Masons to lose at the moment, I am pulling for him to do well because he certainly has the skills . Would not mind seeing Emery back for a few seasons, he looked really sharp this year and healthy.

Just a hunch, I think Holmgren's gonna make a run at Ryan Miller. Not sure what Buffalo would want, but like I said, just a hunch.

Sounds like they want a tandem....thing is that Lavi is not a coach that likes to platoon. We shall see..

Asked if he felt comfortable with Mason as the primary starter, Holmgren said, "I trust him as one of two goalies, but I believe he has a bright future."

Not interested in Emery at all. Been there and it didnt work out. I'm definitely not confident enough ATM to rely on Mason to start night in and out and he has no record to show that he can. Hes still a backup in my mind until proving otherwise on an injury to the starter ect.

i just heard/watched that to..

interesting... i def. think homer has a tendency to spill what hes gunna do/thinking but covers it very well..

like first he said Bryz was a mistake, then when asked again, said it was a purely business reason he was bought out.

but then later he said that going forward, he had to make sure he kept his best players...

its pretty obvious that Bryz, was a problem. and in the coming months/years the dirt will come out.

either from sources/players or Bryz himself.

in fact i think Bryz wont be able to help himself, not unload about his time here...if he stays silent, i'll be utterly shocked in fact..

This makes me so proud:

Leed: Since 2010 season, Philly starting goalies: Leighton, Boucher, Backlund, Emery, Duchesne, Leighton, Bobrovsky, Bryzgalov, Mason.
10:27pm - 25 Jun 13

Thats 9, N-I-N-E!!!, since 2010. So awesome.

Thinking about it, even if we went into the season with mason as the #1, it's not like we'd be taking a step back. There's no way he'd be any worse than Bryz.

July 5 2013 10:47am. Paul Holmgren of the Philadelphia Flyers confirm they have signed goaltender Michael Leighton to a 5 year contract worth $75,000,000.

Going with the obvious. M. Leighton as he is now a UFA and we can sign him for a couple of years to a low cap hit

Mason.

I don't see Luongo coming here. He has ties with Florida and I see him going there as a UFA. ESPECIALLY if his wife is really pushing him to move south.

Does not matter, IMO. They need to fix the way they play. They have to be defense minded. The whole team. Not only that includes the way the play when another team has puck posession, but also how they enter and lock offensive zone.

Till this is fixed, it does not matter who the goalie is.

In 2010 we had MFL, but the whole team played disciplined till injuries and fatigue did them in. And MFL looked like a legit starter for a while.

Since then we lost Pronger and a slew of 2 way forwards: Richards, Carter, Lapy, Pow, Betts, Gagne (he is back now.

Also, I have very little confidence in Flyers goaltending coach. Someone in Columbus and St. Petersburg, Russia fixed Bob's flaws in a shortened season, where Reese failed.

There was a study on Reese's goalies with/without him. There's no evidence that he's different from an average NHL goalie coach.

The main reason the Flyers haven't posted good GA/G totals the last few years is poor SV%. The first place to investigate SV% is with the goalie.

The whole poll is a trap. Flyers won't have a clear cut #1 for the next couple of years.

I expect to see 3+ different goaltenders between the pipes next season, just like the good old Bobrovsky/Leighton/Boosh rotation, only with different names.

Respectfully disagree. Bob did not figure out on his own.
