1959 Mid- January Bruins Tinker With Their Roster and Interesting Tidbits

Dog days of winter produced some interesting hockey news in 1959. The Bruins tinkered with their roster. Dink Carroll offers insight into the Rangers workload / vacation strategy used by Phil Watson, Bill Gadsby explains .fear and it looked like Allan Stanley and Bert Olmstead were on their last legs in the NHL:

Well thats interesting, a 12yr old Bill Gadsby was on the S.S. Athenia sailing from the UK to North America when she was struck by a torpedo from a U-Boat, the first British Ship (and a passenger vessel at that) to be attacked & sunk by the Germans in WW2. The Athenia didnt actually go down until all of the passengers & crew had been evacuated by several rescue ships who had rushed to her aid, but dozens upon dozens did lose their lives when the torpedo struck & through panic, Bill & his mother spending some 5hrs in a Lifeboat.... an experience that Im sure must have left an indelible mark on him.
