Habs Puck Danglers/Best Puck Danglers In The NHL

would you agree we have three of the top puck handlers in the game with

koivu, kovalev and sampsonov... I would put kovalev in the top 5, sampsonov

in the top 10, and koivu in the top 15 in the league personally, with pleky

starting to show some great moves lately. As much as I would love to see a

top power forward on our 1st or 2nd line, these guys have made up the most

exciting habs team that I can ever remember watching. I remember all those years

we had great goaltending, but we played a defensive system, and to be

honest, it was pretty boring at times.... now it is all speed, skill, and contolling

the play. It sure is fun to be a habs fan these days, power forward or not

Kovalev is top 10 definitely but Koivu and Samsonov I'm not sure about.... there have been a number of players in the past couple of seasons who have IMO displayed superior puck control skills. Datsyuk/ Ovechkin/ Hemsky/ Havlat/ Zherdev to name a handful.

I agree. Kovalev is world class...but Koivu and Samsonov....meh.
Pleks is showing some amazing puck control along the boards!

Have to agree with the majority. Kovalev I would say could be argued as number 1 or 2.
Koivu is good when he really slows down but is not able to make his flashy moves at high speed anymore. Samsonov is a great puckhandler because he can skate at top speed with the puck.

i agree where kovalev is top 5, but i think you have sammy and koivu a little too high on the list. although they are good, there are many otehrs that are more impressive. like mentioned above.

i would also add Briere: he has had ridiculous moves this year, and he is really impressing me!

and more notably Afiniganov! i would rank him as right behind kovalev! this guy is pretty unbelivable, if you say him last night you would look like this
but he has been something special for a couple yrs now, and he is finally starting to really light it up now!

who in the Western Conference can dangle as good as Kovy or come close? I was just wondering because we have a lot of guys in the Eastern conference that can dangle like crazy

The only player who should be mentioned in the same sentence as Kovalev is Datsyuk. Their puckhandling styles are very very similar. Datsyuk probably more consistant and imaginitive, but Kovalev's puckhandling is quicker and when he gets into one of his zones he can't be stopped. By anyone, I don't care who you are, Kovalev has the skill to make Bobby Orr in his prime look like a fool.

I just fail to see how you can find any player in the league and say they are better stickhandlers than Datsyuk or Kovalev. I just can't see it. They are 1-2.

the thing about Kovy stickhandling is that it seem so unbelievably natural for him. Just looking at yesterday's goal. He was going slowly towards the winger then "WHAM" quick turn slapshot goal!

then he goes back to the bench like nothing ever happened

for the 4 out of 5 times Kovalev loses the puck when he's playing with it, he looks awful, but that 1 in 5 is pretty incredible.

I think Hemsky deserves to be on that list.

obviously I have sampsonov rated too high, but he sure looks creative with the

puck to me, like a little dart, moving in and out of three or four guys

THEE best in the entire league is either Alex Kovalev or Pavel Datsyuk. No one else is at there level.
