Tampa Bay shopping Ryan Malone

per Elliotte Friedman
Quote:
I'm hearing Yzerman is trying to trade Ryan Malone. Tampa Bay would prefer to avoid a buyout payout and the Lightning are offering a draft pick as an enticement. Malone has a no-move clause in his contract until July 1, which gives him some control of the situation. It is a limited no-trade after then.

I know Lightning fans think he's done, but I think Yzerman finds a deal there. Someone like Edmonton could be a possibility.

I imagine they would have to eat a bad contract back. Reality is every team likely tries to trade the bad contract instead of buying out but they will likely have to use a compliance on him

Depends on the draft pick being offered by Tampa, I could see some teams being interested. For instance, he'd probably fit in quite well with the Oilers, Islanders, Predators, Canadiens (All teams looking to add size to their Top 9, all of them with lots of cap-space).

Deal makes sense if you ask me. TB needs D and Toronto might need the size on the wings.

I'd consider something around Horcoff and Malone

The Flames are ready to accept your terrible players for compensation.

Also just for giggles:

6th Overall
22nd Overall
Alex Tanguay

for

3rd Overall
Malone
2nd Round Pick 2014

you love it.

2010-2011 Tampa Bay Lightning NHL 54 14 24 38
2011-2012 Tampa Bay Lightning NHL 68 20 28 48
2012-2013 Tampa Bay Lightning NHL 24 6 2 8

He got injured this season. But the previous 2 years before he had great production.

I don't see how that is losing his play.

I've watched him play in Tampa the last couple of years and he still crashes and bangs, which can cause him the injuries. But the guy still has speed for his size, goes to the net, hits, fights. I think he would be a good pickup for a team, but most likely will need some salary going back as he still has 2yrs left next season and one more.

To MTL - Malone and a 2nd (Pick 33)

To Tampa - 3rd rounder(Pick 86) + Moen

Tampa saves almost 3 million

i actually like Souray, thought he had a great first half of the year, just got tired with the condensed season. I think he will rebound nicely.

Souray makes too much for bottom pair IMO. He's good with Beauch but I think we need some fresh legs in top 4. As long as one of them is moved though, I'd be happy.

Why? We could probably get just a pick for JML.

3rd(ish) + Clarkson > Malone

I bet David Poile is looking hard at this. He has said he wants to get bigger and if Tampa is offering a pick it sweetens the pot.

Rights to Blum and Halischuk

For

Malone and 4th

Has Nashville soured on Blum? Flames would love to add him to their pool I would think.

Yep, really a numbers game and Blum is the odd man out. It is confirmed he is being actively shopped.

Please send him to Calgary, we have room for him here.

No idea what NSH would want.
