Ahh. OK. I agree.

Maybe it's deep enough of a draft that teams with lower picks are ready to give up enough that it gets guys like MacT and Rutherford thinking. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Calgary is ready to throw out it's lower two 1st round picks to get another top 10 pick. At least that's what they should try to do imo.

Lazar has really impressed me every time i've seen him play. He seems to have a lot of heart and thats what the oilers are seriously lacking outside of hall/ yakupov.

That Horcoff/Hemsky news is AMAZING!

Majorly good impression made on me by MacTavish so far.

Edit: As for the 7th overall, perhaps he's trying to get a package that involves a lower draft pick and someone that's NHL ready? Just some food for thought...

ya so how do they come to camp?
If Mac-T gets rid of both Horcoff and Hemsky I'll be so happy. I've been expecting to hear this for quite some time now but at the same time the way things have been going I also kinda expect to her the wrong answer with these kinda things.

As for him saying we're into trading the pick... of course! Him Hemsky, Horcoff, Whitney and Bulin wall gone just think of all of the cap space we'll have!

Take our draft picks and Hemsky and walk away with a damn good stutdown d to play with Schultz and either an elite 3rd line center or a 2nd line LW and address the rest of our needs via free agency after players become available via compliance buyouts.

Oh yeah and buyout Belanger too.

Can't wait. ^^

With this draft class I think you'll see different kind of trade down deals to be made, especially for us. After 3rd there is clearly a slight drop off up to 7th, and after 7th is a significant drop off. Teams with two 1st rounders like Dallas and Columbus I'm sure will be very willing to overpay to guarantee themselves Nichushkin/Monahan/Lindholm. Even teams without two 1st's but something else valuable to offer will be making offers. In years past you might not have seen the 7th overall pick land a 1st 5-10 spots back along with another 1st but I believe this year is a lot different. The value of our pick is substantial compared to 8th overall. If someone offers two firsts (the highest being within 8ish spots) for our 7th overall I think it would be very worth it depending on who is left. If it's Nichushkin I can see a possible trade. If it's Monahan I'd be furious that they would pass him up. It'll be interesting to see if we do trade the pick what kind of value will be coming back because I have to think our pick will be highly sought after enough to make a nice market. Any team would be willing to give up another 1st and a 2nd to get 7, but that won't cut it this year. Not to mention with our situation where we have drafted top end forwards for the past few years and the top 7 being filled with more top end forwards, taking a gamble by passing on a better player shouldn't hurt much.

Not that I want the Oilers to trade back, but I wouldn't be opposed to it depending on the price of course. I don't think it's nearly as risky as you might think this year.

Listeners of the Jason Strudwick Show: On those increasingly rare occasions that Struds does his own show, has he lost some of the infectious enthusiasm that carried him early on? He still brings it when he guests with Gregor in the afternoon but sounds a little bored now between 9 and midnight. Then again, maybe it's just me...

He just learning consistency, and it's tough in this "down time" for sports. Between games, there's not as much to talk about around the world of sports, with the Esks back that should help.

The consistency part makes sense. Seeing it's not quite the 'down time' yet (Stanley Cup Final, NBA Finals, Jays resurgence, CFL starting up, endless Oilers rebuild, etc.), I've been surprised to hear how often Marc Majeau is doing the show solo or Struddy is making like another Jason we all remember (not really into it).

He needs to diversify the show a little bit.

Talk about underwater hockey or hire a female assistant and talk about who is good looking and which uniforms are the prettiest.
