I'd rather see with some of the younger guys in the system are capable of providing than giving out a contract to a guy well on the wrong side of 30 and one who hasn't laced up an NHL skate in what will be almost 2 years.

I'd much rather see this team give those 3rd and 4th line spots to Miller, Fast, Lindberg, Newbury, Hrivik, Yogan, Mashinter, Haley and Ferriero before we go out and add some old dude that's rusty as hell.

I wouldnt say that at all. Callahan has proved that hes getting better every year in the offense part of the game.

He will continue to play a top 6 role with big time minutes.

and yes! Your right. Stepan and Brassard are proper top 2 centers. I would like Fillipula, but I am sure he wants $$$$$$. And hes already a 4 million type guy. He probably wants 5+. So hes a no go. But under 4, with a buyout of Richards gets me interested.

Briere only if we get him under 3.5 million. Maybe hes interested in a playoff team that kicked his teams *** the past 2 seasons lol

He is paid elite player money. His contract expires in 2020. His first 6 years of the contract have an AAV of $9.5M. $57M. 6 years. $9.5M. The CBA changed. Its time to cut ties and move on.
hes always been slow, its not like hockey sense can evaporate overnight. his failures were due to stupidity and poor judgement. he was off. every player goes through that, and yet at times we saw flashes of brilliance. the game is there, he needs a fresh start, i'd give him 1 year with AV to see what we have.

I fully expect Richards to bounce back strong next season, but it would really be a big-boy bet. I'm not that risky.

Anisimov, 25, will make $2.75 million this coming season, followed by $3.1 million in 2014-15 and $4 million in 2015-16. His salary cap figure will be $3.283, and the trade does not include any no-move or no-trade restrictions.

The $4M is a group III year.

i take that bet. cap space this offseason just gives Sather incentive to spend like a drunken sailor. id bet on Richards fixing himself.

too much upheaval is not a good thing.

I 100% expect Richards to bounce back. I have serious doubts he can do so in NY with all the baggage.

He signs for peanuts to be Chicago's second line C? Sky is the limit.

Only wildcard is the AV hire, could help him mentally. But that's a big if. Still, I think it's a dangerous game to essentially be forced to have Miller/Lindberg in the lineup opening night. If they earn it, tremendous but there has to be a contingency plan.

He wasn't the same player his last couple seasons. The burden of the captaincy plus being the franchise guy for a perennial basement dweller seemed to weigh on him. After the 2008-2009 season he stopped going to the net like he did before. He tried to dangle around opponents and do everything himself. He never dropped the gloves much, but he would throw his body around and make himself a physical presence. After 2009 that almost entirely disappeared from his play. He also stopped playing on the penalty kill once Hitchcock was fired.

Buyouts require waivers. Another team can claim the player and his contract. Richards has a NMC. He can't be waived without his permission. The Rangers have to request permission from Richards to place him on waivers. Give him the option. He has 24 hours to accept or reject. Its a request in writing. If he ignores the request, its viewed as a rejection. Richards gets bought out without waivers. Just like Chris Drury.

Stupidity and poor judgement would suggest a lack of hockey sense. I think he still knows what to do, but wasn't able to do it this year for whatever reason.

I think he can absolutely bounce back next year, but I don't think that is relevant to whether or not we keep him. IMO it's 100% a financial decision. If the Rangers plan to buy him out no matter what, waiting until next summer to do it is foolish.

And yet that "very overrated" PP player was tied for 4th in the NHL in PP goals last season, and tied for 8th the year before despite missing 22 games.

Does cap recapture apply to waiver claims?

My bad, didn't see. What would be your max number? Something like 2.5-3m/1 year?

He was playing with a herniated disc to the point he had no feeling in one of his feet....

Sources confirm a long-term agreement is imminent between the Blues and D-man Kevin Shattenkirk.

Iím told to expect his contract to pay him north of $4 million over the next four seasons totaling around $17 million.
http://www.truehockey.com/articles/B...al-is-Imminent

$4.25M. Shattenkirk is 24. He is 3 years away from group III. Same situation as McD.

Hopefully, the Rangers re-sign Mac for longer than 4 years.
