No way. I would much rather have a kid with a higher ceiling at 11 than two late firsts.

The Flyers have their sights on three defensemen who might be around at No.11 in Ryan Pulock (Brandon), Darnell Nurse (Sault Ste. Marie) and Finnish prospect Rasmus Ristolainen from TPS.

Hmm random draft day guess. We trade our 11th for CLB's 14th + 3rd round pick. Sounds small and stupid butttt something that happens instead of these big trades.

Honestly, im just expecting Homer to keep the pick at 11 and take BPA. He will look to grab a first or maybe move around but decides to just stay.

Also can u people beleive... We have a 2nd round pick. Oh ****. How did Homer prevent himself from trading it

On that note, I do not expect these two to be there at 11 either.

How much advantage does Risto get by being closer? An impressive camp and he could play this year (a streeeeetch, but throwing it out there).

He's been avoiding giving up picks from this draft for the most part this year. He traded the 4th for Gagne but after that he traded a 2015 and 2014 pick for Mason and Streit.

I don't know if he's turning a new leaf or he really likes this draft.

i think his style of play physically would do better in his rookie year than nurse's

nurse is like he likes to overpower people and grind them into the corner, and i don't think he's going to do that first year in the NHL. not many young d-men do unless you're huge like cowen

risto will go out and kronwall a guy but he'll play the poke check as well

Pretty much mine as well. I think I'd go:
-Nurse
-Ristolainen/Zadorov
-Morrissey
-Pulock
-Morin

If both Zad and Risto were there I really don't know what I'd do.

The Flyers are just messing with everyone - be upset when it's announced that they've chose Alexander Wennberg with their first choice....

I'll answer that for you: Ristolainen.

Basically. Zadorov is more raw than Rist and I think Rist could potentially be in the NHL by day 1. Rist may not be as big, but he's still physical, mean streak and a more defined/refined offensive and defensive game.

I'm actually really intrigued by Morin but this organization doesn't have the patience for him. If we had a solid prospect system with defensive prospects he would be higher for me.

I just think Zad has a higher ceiling.

I'm cautious of players that raise drastically in rankings over a short period if time but honestly I've barley seen him play (only highlights).

Does not. I don't know what gave you that impression, but Zad's ceiling is not Chara or Pronger. Maybe more Hatcher?

If anything Ristolainen might be closer to those two names.

This is all speculation, you can't actually think you can project these players accurately anymore than I can. Which is why I said I think based on what I've seen and a gut feeling. I highly doubt either of them turn into a Pronger or Chara.

I would argue Zad is better defensively and is the better skater as well having the physical advantage. The only thing Risto has on Zadorov right now is a more developed offensive game and hockey smarts (which I believe is the result of playing in a men's league/learning from pros). Risto also has the advantage of being slightly older.

This mock draft has him middle of first round.

I don't think it's about the patience. The question should be is he the best player available? He seems the riskiest of all of the defenders ranked in the first. I wouldn't take someone so high risk with the 11th pick.

If homer picked zadorov instead of Ristolainen, someone should drop a piano on him as he walks off the stage.

If we had flexibility to take that risk than I wouldn't be too upset with that pick hence why I have him lower in my rankings because we don't.

They both have a high ceiling to where they could be legitimate #1 defenseman. But I think zadarovs floor would be a coburn type player where as I think Ristolainens floor is a little higher than that. I see him as a safer pick
