If the Flyers go in with Steve Mason and Cal Heeter as their 1-2 punch they're in trouble.

I don't believe they bought out Bryz with the intention of Steve Mason being the starting goalie.

Why can't they intend to start Mason but sign a legit backup? Heeter is not an NHL player.

I seriously doubt Cal Heeter makes the NHL next season. I would be surprised if Homer takes another wild shot on a big time goalie with a big contract. I think he believed before a great team makes a goalie. I think he was forced into the Bryz deal and in typically homer FA action overpaid. I think for the most part Homer is great at RFA deals, trades (for the most part), drafting, but UFA's has been pretty bad with deal lengths and money. I would hope he was excited for Mason how he played with the Flyers, and hoping he goes with a 1A 1B tandem like Emery or Thomas.

Probably a desperation move to deflect blame from his client in the hopes it increases value.

Yeah Bryz released a statement and said good things, then he comes out and starts talking trash like that. It reflects poorly on Bryz IMO cause If I were him I'd tell him enough is enough already. You said a few things but just drop it.

I see what you did there . Seriously though, there's no way Homer goes into this season with Heeter as backup. They traded for Mason last season cause the team/organization had no confidence in Leighton they won't go with someone like that again. My money is on Thomas (even though I'm not really fond of the idea but on a one year deal I'd be OK with it) or someone like Khudobin.

Who played some of the best defense this team has seen in yrs. I'm not trying to excuse Bryz of his poor play by any means but let's not act like Leighton is the better goalie. Leighton won't put up the numbers Bryz did on any team.

I'm not sold on Mason at all. That doesn't mean he didn't do the things Bryz wasn't.

Leighton was a product of elite players and the perfect players for playing in Lavi's system.
Bryzgalov was exposed by average to above average players although imperfect for playing in Lavi's system.

Bryzgalov is a better goalie, but not by 4.77m.

I feel pretty confident in saying that if the reanimated corpse of Osama bin Laden led the Flyers to the SC, the media would dismiss the whole Al-Qaeda* thing as a big misunderstanding.

Still a little creeped out by the dog is a beautiful woman speech. Not trying to be a jerk, and I get what he was trying to say-- but hell if it wasn't weird.

I was hoping they'd keep Bryz for one more year to see if Mason could be a starter or not. Having Bryz would give some insurance on the year.

I don't agree with this. It's a business, and the agent has a job to do, and it's enough for the player to be the good cop, he doesn't have to stop his agent from being the bad cop.
