Real solid draft for the Islanders. Sprong will attract fans to the rink, he's that electric, and Goulet is an extremely reliable two-way center, and I think he could possibly be a future captain. If Kennedy can get faster, he'll also be a steal. Mckie reminds me a lot like Mccabe, who Moncton took last year, so not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing for you guys. (I think it's a good thing.) the rest of the Islanders picks didn't stand out a whole lot to me, but they were great picks, and I could honestly see all of them in the Q one day. Doiron, and Parsons in particular were steals where they were drafted.

This evening I had an interview session with Charlottetown Islanders 13th overall pick in the 2013 QMJHL Draft, Daniel Sprong. The highly-offense forward from the Lac St-Louis Tigers of the Midget Espoirs league in Quebec, agreed to answer a few questions for the fans of the Islanders and the QMJHL.
QSpot: How do you feel about being drafted by Charlottetown in the 13th Overall?
DS: It feels good to be drafted by a team like Charlottetown and Iím very happy.
QSpot: What can you bring to the Islanders?
DS: I can bring offensive game, speed and play-making skills to this team.
QSpot: What are your goals and things you want to work on heading into training camp in August?
DS: My goal going into camp would be to get my weight up to 190 pounds and grow to 6 feet tall. I also want to get stronger and faster. Iíll have to work hard and show that I belong on this team next season.
QSpot: What are you looking forward to the most in your QMJHL career?
DS: For me Iím looking for a great and successful QMJHL career.
QSpot: Tell us, what is your favorite pre-game meal?
DS: On game day I eat how I feel . But the night before I have the same meal; sweet potatoes with beans and fish.
QSpot: Do you have any pre-game rituals?
DS: Yes I have a lot of rituals some of them are, I donít like people touching my stick and the tape can never touch the ground. I am the last one out of the room and last one with my jersey and Helmet on. I have more but those are the key ones.
QSpot: Which number would you like to wear for the Islanders?
DS: The number I would like to wear is 11. If thatís taken I would choose between #91, #88 and #21
QSpot: What can you say to Charlottetown fans and players that donít know much about you?
DS: Iím happy to get selected by Charlottetown and ready to play hockey.
Looks like an exciting team could be shaping up, love the new look. Lots of good kids coming to camp and I am sure there will be a couple of surprises as well. New owners are doing a great job, keep up all the good work.
