If you're a GM, and you believe he is the piece you need to make a cup run, you're going to overpay slightly.

Personally, I think he deserves 3.750 per year for 3 years. If I'm a GM, I'd go up to 4.500 because you're not going to lose a guy over 0.750 per year.

That said - I still think anything over 5 is too much.

Horton - is going to be 28 and coming off a dominant play-off run where he averaged about .9 PPG. Those other guys are just not good comparisons IMO.

People talking $4-4.5M are WAY out of touch. If Zajac got $5.75 x 8, and Grabo got $5.5 x 6, I don't see how Horton isn't worth at least $5.5M. And he could give BOS a home town discount and sign there for less, but that's his decision.
This guy gets it. No chance he even gets under 5 in my opinion. However, considering injuries, I do think 6 years at 6 per is kinda ridiculous.

4 years, 23 million is my guess. And hopefully with the Devils (not happening sadly). Exactly the type of player NJ needs.

I wouldn't give him anything over 3 years. His injury history makes him somewhat of a risk for a long term contract. I was hoping he'd take a 3 year 15 mil deal, but that looks like it's out of the cards. I can see Boston allowing him to walk if he won't take enough of a discount on $ or term.

What's sad is that there's a team out there somewhere that's just dumb enough to give him that contract. Sure hope it's not mine.

There definitely are GM's out there ready to throw $6m at Horton. I just have to hope that he's willing to buck those offers and sign back here in Boston for $5m. If not, I guess it's just time to move on and figure out a way to patch that hole.

It's no wonder the teams that "win" free agency don't do a darn thing aside from 4th liners. The guy is a fringe 2nd liner with a concussion history, I sincerely hope this is a joke or that Boston resigns him at 6M AAV

he would have to take less to stay in Boston. Enjoy your new team Horts you've priced yourself out of Boston and with your injury history that term is insane. I really hope the B's stay far away from that kind of term with him if they can find a way to keep him.

I wouldn't say he's a fringe second liner, but he's definitely not getting $6m

He's going to cash in like leino did and be whipping boy for some fan base for years to come. He would enjoy life more if he acted more reasonable but I think he will cash in all his chips a reap what he sows.

Clique-five!

At an absolute minimum he's getting 4+ years and $5m+ per on the UFA market.

Just the way things work. Supply and demand.

i think you will see him sign a much lesser contract. / be one of those players who keeps hanging around thinking a big offer is going to come that never does.
