I have thought of a fair way to decide the argument of top players in the NHL. I will provide a list of every player noteworthy, with everyone voting for who they think is the best player still on the list. We will omit the winning name each time, adding him to the appropriate spot on the top 25 list, and keep everyone else, until a full top 25 is decided. (No goalies, 10 votes for one player clinches, or the leader after 24 hours if 10 votes for one man do not occur.)
--Markus Naslund won round 2 after a tight neck and neck battle with Niklas Lidstrom. I gotta say, it's nice to see Markus getting that recognition. If the favourite for #3 now wins, Lidstrom, that means that we here at hfboards.com consider the top 3 skaters in the NHL to be Swedish.--
Top players list:
1) Peter Forsberg
2) Markus Naslund
Remaining players eligible:
Martin St. Louis
He kept things going for the Avs when Forsberg has been out. Plus, he's the captain, and he's Canadian... what have the Swedes done in international competition lately?
Who are hockey's best?
Tre Kronor? Heck no. Hockey's crown currently belongs to Canada (except Juniors).
Lidstrom has had an off year by his standards. Blake is a better contender for the Norris for 2003-2004, and there are better "lifetime" players left on the board (i.e. Lemieux, Messier, perhaps Yzerman, perhaps Jagr, etc.).
