And now back to hockey ...

That was exactly my reaction, too. I laughed out loud at the sheer awkwardness of the situation. Rather than that frozen moment in time of great hockey finishes and heroic goals, the "Where's the puck?" scene was so anticlimactic that it let the air out of what would otherwise be a soul-stabbing instant.

I agree. If they had to lose, they lost in the best way possible.

They also gave us enough to celebrate during the run that there were positives to look at. Plus, at the time, we could say "Wow! Get another depth dman and a decent goalie and we're set!"

Then Homer robbed us of that hope by thoroughly botching the offseason, and slamming our SC window shut. Re-signing Leighton? REALLY?

I found it worse because for a little while I had false hope that it wasn't really a goal.

True fact: Bergeron was clinically dead for the whole 2nd period of game 6, but still logged 8:15 of ice time and displayed a wider range of facial expression than Toews. He was reanimated between periods by touching Gregory Campbell's now-magic broken leg.

Blues re-sign Shattenkirk. 4 years $17 million.

One less RFA for Homer to offer sheet

a) Because without Leighton's gaffe they still would've continued playing the game and maybe lost it anyway. The Bruins on the other hand were on their way back to Chicago.
b) The ridiculousness of it all actually made to loss bearable to me. I was just sitting there laughing at what I just witnessed, it was that stupid. I actually got over that loss really quickly. That wouldn't have happened with yesterday's result.

I felt the same way. The total confusion of the situation nullified the sting of having just lost the Cup.

Flyers' drafted Zubrus back to NJD for 3 years @ 3 mil cap hit. Hard to believe Dainus has been in the league for 17 years now. I still remember the days of him and Niinimaa coming into the league as promising rookies.

Pens extend Kunitz for 3 additional years @ 3.85 mil cap hit. Not bad for a perennial 25 goal scorer who would have put up close to 40 this past year in a full season. Even though I hate the Pens with a passion, I'd love to have Ray Shero as a GM over Homer. He may have gotten lucky as a GM could get with drafting in the mid 2000s, but he pulls off great trades for his team and is able to keep key players on very reasonable contracts.

I bet he will have a lot of options to chose from. I think there are going to be a good amount of teams that will want him as their second line center

Definitely. The compliance buyouts will make this offseason entrertaining (and when the GM of your team is Paul Holmgren, it will be also nerve-wrecking).

Kunitz signing for three years at only $3.85 million AAV is a good deal for the Penguins, although he will be 35 when the contract starts.

I was not a fan of Bergeron until the Finals this year. Dude is ridiculous. Anyone who plays through those types of injuries is on a different level.

Strange tweet here. Waiting to see what happens next.

Strange is not meant in a negative way either.

EDIT: He now deleted it. Probably was hacked.
