Maybe this is why we're talking to Buffalo. Perhaps it's not about Miller or moving back.

1. COL - MacKinnon
2. FLA - Drouin/Jones/Barkov/Nichushkin
3. TBL - Drouin/Jones/Barkov/Nichushkin
4. NSH - Drouin/Jones/Barkov/Nichushkin
5. CAR - ????
6. CGY - Monahan/Lindholm/Nichushkin
7. EDM - ????
8. BUF - Monahan/Lindholm/Nichushkin
9. NJD - ????
10. DAL - ????

There are 10 picks and 6 tier 1 forwards available. Jones accounts for the last player making 7 picks accounted for.

That leaves 3 picks ahead of us. Nurse or Ristolainen will take up one of those picks.

That leaves 2 picks. Those two picks HAVE to be a forward (or Fucale I guess).

The 11th + 42nd for the 8th pick. Plus we will throw in Meszaros for free.

We need to jump at least two picks to guarantee us one of the two big defensemen. This would make sense.

If we trade our 2nd to move up then we should acquire another so we can draft a lesser tier d man in after the first

I wonder if they would take 11 + 3rd round (or 11 + Mez...which I know is unlikely).

Ahh this is where my psychic trading of Talbot comes into play. It's all making sense now.

Had a dream we took Mantha at 11. I was so mad I turned off my dream tv and walked out of my dream living room, which unfortunately wasn't even nicer than my real tv or living room.

I'd be Dissapointed with Mantha at 11.

Why? Then we can take Zadorov and get the best D in the draft? Or Morrissey, or Morin?

If Nurse and Ristolainen are off the board, I'm fine with still staying at the #11 spot or trading down and picking up more picks rather than moving up.

Except precisely no one will agree he is the best D in the draft. He projects to be more of a 4/5 while Jones projects to be franchise.

I would be ecstatic if we could trade for another first.
11. Shinkaruk
Then use the other puck on a DMan.... Pulock. Morrissey. Morin.

ESPN Insider has their mock up. They have Risto gone at 10 and the Flyers taking Nurse.

Quote:
Pick analysis: Even though I have Nurse lower on my personal list, I think the Flyers will select him, especially after losing Chris Pronger to injury. While I have other defensemen rated higher because of offensive upside, Nurse has skill and could prove to be better than I have projected. Philly has always been known for playing with truculence, and there is little doubt about Nurse's ability to handle himself in that area. There is a ton of battle in his overall game. I get the sense this pick will mark the passing of the torch from Pronger to Nurse. And wouldn't it be interesting to see the nephew of former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb land in Philly?

I had a Flyers-related dream last night too. I was at a bar talking with Homer (and some others) and everyone was drinking but Homer. Then someone put a drink down in front of him and I saw him take a sip then pass it to whomever the drink was supposed to go to. I was so concerned about this and was worried he had fallen off the wagon but no one else saw him take the drink!

Either are good. Like I said, even if we don't take them, I'm still up for a forward if it's Shinkaruk. Think of a bit bigger and more talented Johnny Gaudreau.

I'd rather trade back if they guy they want at 11 goes in the top 10.

Really like Shinkaruk's game - outside of Drouin, he's my favorite forward in the draft.

I'd rather have Lindholm over Shinkaruk, but Shinkaruk has a higher chance of being down near 11th.

I know people have been saying Risto-lay-nen. Is that correct or is it Risto-lie-nen?

Honestly. A good dream would have gone like this: I dreamed the Flyers drafted Mantha at 11. I was upset at first, being the owner of the team, but after talking for awhile with my wife Kate Upton on the front deck of our mansion in Hawaii, I was okay with the idea that my franchise could let another team have a bit of glory, since we had won the past 10 Stanley Cups in a row. So I used my superpowers to fly back to the office and meet Mr. Mantha, who to everyone's surprise was the greatest hockey player in the history of the NHL. I was so happy I bought Pittsburgh and had their arena demolished.

Try harder next time.

I think they should trade #11 and a good prospect (Cousins, Nobles, etc) for the #8 pick.
Then they should pick Ristolainen, Pulock or Morrissey.
They should retain the #42 and try to move up to the top of the 2nd round to draft another defenseman.
