Abby vs Huet?

Just my opinion here but I think if Abby has strong games against Chicago and Colorado he could be considered the #1 over Huet. It's a big if however Abby has looked very solid in his starts so far this year where as Huet save% and GAA are in space right now.

Yes, I know it's early in the year. I hope they fight for the #1 all year!

If they both play amazing hockey throughout the year (last year's Huet and the current Aebischer), can they both contend for some hardware/trophies? Not that I think it will actually happen but it might be interesting to see if that can happen, has it even happened before?

I just wanna see how the team plays in front of Aebischer tonight. For some weird reason I have a feeling they just won't show up.I hope im wrong.

Huet is starting to scare me a bit.He looks pretty lost out there and nothing like last year.Let's just all hope he finds his game really quickly

They could both contend, in theory, but I can't imagine anyone voting for a goaltender that only played 40-50 games.

Huet isn't lost. We hung him out to dry last night. We're lucky Calgary only scored 4. I can only blame him for one of the 4 goals they scored.

Huet's lateral movement is his weakspot imo - most goalie's have that issue though. Abby has looked better than Huet so far though this season.

I'm not throwing in the towel on Huet this year but overall he seems to be fighting the puck more than last year. I hate his new pads.

They could win the Jennings Trophy. Least goals allowed by a goaltending tandem.

Who wouldn't vote for two goalies with 35+ wins in 40 games

I really don't care who #1 or #2 is. Whoever is playing better should get starts....bottom line. We have the luxury of counting on 2 equally talented tenders. Let's ride the one that's hot! Most teams don't have this ability. If Brodeur (or Luongo, Fernandez, Denis, Raycroft, etc) is off his game, these teams take a significant hit between the pipes...not us.

My concern is that they end up 2a and 2b. I couldn't stand a situation in which the goaltending lets us down like Theo did last year. Huebischer needs to come through.

Let's hope some strong performances by Aebischer starting by tonight in Chicago.

My feeling is that he will show up again and steal this game!

Go AEBI you're MY #1!

The defense has played way better for abby so far. The results 2-1 and 3-2 vs philly and toronto indicates this. I refuse to blame huet for the poor result were seing as the defense has done a horible job for him so far. Vs buffalo many times the defense failed to clear the zone, many times they endid up turning the puck over in the defensive zone and many times the defense took some stupid penalty and give the sabres players wide open spaces. Same thing happen vs the flames. Markov was bad tuning the puck over at least 4 times, souray took many penalty and stupid ones and the players did a horible job at covering flames players, as on one of the goals lombardi was left wide open, all four players were all on the right side. In the 3rd period the players dident have any brain cramps in the defensive zone and huet was able to see the puck very well as a result making alot of key saves to give the habs the victory. When the defense is non existant both huet and abby will have problems.

Toronto and Philly are not very good teams...hence the easier time by the goalie playing that game...which happened to be Abby.

R U on Glue?

5 games in, can't you just be happy our management is smart enough to have 2 goalies capable of starting?

Huet is the #1 and Abby is the #1b everyone knows this. Carbo has said this.

after 25 games we will see who is the clear #1 this season. but right now its Huet.

I will have no problem if Abby takes over ths year, but i doubt that happens.

I think we have 2 capable #1 goalies that are trying to prove that they are #1 goalies.

I think it will take more than few good games by one goalie to be considered the #1 guy. One goalie will have to struggle badly while the other one is standing on his head before one guy starts getting the bulk of the workload.

As of right now, I actually like aebischer more than Huet this season. But that can change.

Aebischer was alright tonight, stopped two breakaways and that huge save on Seabrook, he will get the start on Saturday night and then Huet will get the Sabres on Monday night. I would love for Huet to be the first goalie to beat the Sabres this season, Buffalo plays back-to-back on Friday and Saturday though against the Canes and Bruins but could easily arrive in Montreal 8-0.

yikes... back to back games... buffalo's bubble might burst

But like you said, I'd love to see buffalo come in unbeaten and fall to the habs... but I dont care whose in net for us in that game.
