#17 + Mark Stone/Matt Puempel for #12 + #42/#62

Probably a slight overpayment by the Sens, but I have a feeling the Murray's want one of Domi/Horvat and are willing to pay for it.

Tempting. Only given the scenario in the OP, however. (No Shinkaruk or Domi)

I'd hate to give up a 21 year old who has an abundance of skill and is ALREADY awesome defensively for just a pick because you just never know with 17 year old kids. Maybe a small plus could be added like #42 or a prospect like Brown or Szwarz.

With Burmi, we already know he's at worst a solid defensively sound 3rd line center/winger who can PK and is not afraid of body contact as he usually initiates it. He just needs to be given more of a chance playing with better players. I fully expect within the next 2 seasons, Burmi will become more of an offensive contributor as he matures.

Problem being, I'd want #12 if Domi were still on the board. I'd love for the JETS to land two of Domi, Wennberg, Gauthier, Zadorov or Ristolainen.
Burmistrov for the 12th. Absolutely. No doubt.

Good offer. Not sure where we'd get the money.

Which probably would be rejected by Winnipeg (understandably so).
Keep in mind that DT just signed a five year deal. Going to make it tough on Domi or Shinkaruk to crack the line up any time within that half decade. Horvat or Lazar, sure.

Makes Burmistrov's super slick talent and defensive conscience combo pretty appealing. He might actually get a shift or two for Tip.

Fair enough but I don't see the difference between the two as being "laughable". Far from it actually, but to each their own.

Agreed, Oilers fan living in Calgary but i like Horak might not be fair straight across but he is definitely a useful player, if he could put it together he would be a very solid third liner, has good speed and shown good offensive upside in spurts, his defensive game isn't lacking either.

Are Oilers trades i posted above decent value??

Not compared to some of the other trades offered.

I know Coyotes fans are probably tired of their team being described as hard working, solid two-way play with perhaps less skill of other teams because it is a bit patronizing.

That said, Horvat is as good as it gets if you want hard working, solid two-way play with perhaps less skill of the top centers in this draft. I think he'd be a good fit for the Coyotes.

The thread started due in part to comments made by Don Maloney who said he wouldn't mind trading back to the early/mid twenties. While it may be patronizing to say such things about our team, it is a very real consideration. A player like Rundblad simply has less of a chance of sticking with a team coached by Dave Tippett. Drafting to your coach/team's strengths isn't a bad idea. It can lead to problems later down the road, but so long as the asset management is solid, it won't bite you hard.

Maloney also made comments about size and speed. I personally think he might be after Gauthier. If your BPA is expected to be available 20-25, you trade back to that spot.

Klesla, Vermette, Korpikoski, and the 12th are all likely available at the draft for the right price. Rundblad, Gormley or Yandle by special invitation only.

Anyways, fire away HFers. :-)

Leafs probably dont have the type of forward prospect youd want, as im assuming skill is the main attribute of interest.

25 and 36 are already going to Detroit for 18.

As for Miller, I understand the salary thing, but I think he'd be absolutely ridiculous in Tippet's system. He's a better goalie than Smith or Bryzgalov, both of whom have looked good under Tippet's defense.

That would be nice yes, however the 12th is nicer, though I'd probably want to keep Collberg with a competitive offer like that on the board

I have no idea what makes you believe that money is an issue with Phoenix considering that they are somewhere around or in the top five teams in terms of cap space available, without the Boedker and Korpikoski contracts that haven't yet been signed.

We have a $50 million internal cap, more or less. And that number isn't really going to improve in the near-term, even if the ownership saga gets settled and RSE keeps the team in Phoenix. Maybe an increase of $1-2 million, but that's it.

Right now we're at $38 million in salary with only 7 forwards (and two centers) and no goaltenders under contract. We're easily going to be at around $44 million just by resigning Boedker, Korpikoski, Stone and Rundblad. 6-8 million to fill our holes and attempt to acquire Top 6 talent on forward.
