Book it here: Whatever team signs Prince Vincent will wind up seriously regretting it. He'll get some ridiculous multi-year deal, but will be 34 in the middle of this season, is injury prone, and has basically degraded to a 20 goal 60 point sort of player (and I'm not sure he maintains that pace, to be honest).

He wasn't the "go to" guy on Tampa in the last few years, which some may say reduced his numbers. But, he also wasn't facing the checking pressure anymore, as it was always Stamkos against the first pairing.

I know there is some optimism that the Isles will be able to capitalize on some of these compliance buyouts, but buyouts happen for a reason.

NO chance unless Wang decides to open the pocket books and show commitment to building a winning team that spends to the cap limit

BTW, unrelated question: Does Dipietro have to clear waivers again? He already cleared when he got sent down.

How about no chance because it's the irrelevant Islanders?

Not that it will happen but I do think if the Islanders opened up the wallet and started to sign or trade for top end players somebody like Vinny might consider signing here but the fact this team chooses to be a cap min team makes them irrelevant

Lecavalier is going to get paid and rightfully so the guy isn't worth $10mil but he's going to get another decent contract.. He averaged more points per game over the last 3 years than Eberle, Gaborik, Parise, Krejci and Kesler. He's not a superstar but the guy is a great player that would improve any team out there.

Playoffs were a big step as well as the arena but this team is going to have to spend and prove they can win over the course of an 82 game schedule to really be attractive to ufa's.

Really it depends on the contract. You're probably right. Someone will give him 5-6 years and end up hating it. But, if he can be had on a 2-3 year deal, I think he'd be a nice player to have. He has options and will be sought after by a number of teams, so him coming to the Isles is a pipe dream.

Well, sometimes it's less about the player than it is about the contract. Vinny's contract was just terrible.

This whole situation has "Rangers sign Lecavalier 6 years/6AAV written all over it.

I'm not sure if there's a bigger disappointment of unfullfilled potential as Vinny Lecavalier in the last 30 years. Don't get me wrong, he's been a really good player in his career, but he could have been so much more.

When he was 19, I though the Bolts had a Crosby-type of generational talent on their hands.

He reminds me a little of Paul Kariya in that regard. Guys who came out of the gate with eye-popping skills, initially put up numbers, and then stagnated.

I thought along the same. I expect either the Rangers/Philly/TO to offer him a nice 5-6 yr deal for 5-6.5 mil per.

Could he be brought out a second time by a different team next summer?

Yes he does, buyout waivers are different, also he does not hold a NMC like Vinny or Briere where he can opt to not be put on waivers.

Someone put a spell on him, so he will have to sign with the Islanders.

But FFS Vinny do not go to Rangers!

Richards for Dipietro + stuff(both had same buyout(24M) price I believe, DP is spread over 2 more years though)

All that being said I believe Richards has a NMC so he would probably nix that

Rags update: with today's news about Vinny L, they are going to keep Richards, bring back Fedotenko, and sign VL so they can party like it's 2004

Richards' contract is terrible. You want no part of that.

Would I want it on waivers for Free? No

Would he be an upgrade for Dipietro's contract? Yes

Richards as "bad" a season as he had still was on pace for 60 points

Hypothetically..I wonder if someone like Washington signs Vinny and he's just awful since they're not going to use an compliance buy out this season can they buy him out next offseason?

Is there a rule that the compliance buyouts have to be used on existing contracts or can someone be signed this summer and then be "amnestied" next summer?

If not if could be a way for teams to circumvent the cap on short term deals. Give someone a 2 year $10mil deal but under the table say we'll buy you out after the season so it essentially gives them a $5 mil cap hit while paying the player much more.

Okay, but he's under contract for another 7 years.

Either way stinks. Might as well buy out DiPietro and walk away from the mess than take on a different millstone that's just slightly less heavy.

Are you serious? Wake me when Wang spends within 10 million of the salary cap ceiling and then I'll worry about 1.5 million of extra space.

Maybe that's exactly what Snow/Wang want...For DP to be injured this season. Then they can buy him out so he's off the team, but they still have his cap hit for another god knows how many years.
