Perron is not just a playmaking winger, he's also a good goal scorer with high end skill. You wouldn't trade Kreider for him?

Girardi for JVR.
The Rangers then have the worst RHS depth in the league.

And they give up their biggest minute muncher, top pair dman for an oft injured 2nd line winger with upside. Don't really like it IMO.

No, I wouldn't. He's such a good goal scorer, he his career high in goals is 21...really, I never got the love fest with Perron. Solid 2nd line winger, not much more.

The 21 goals you're referring to was in 57 games. That correlates to 30g over 82 game season. He clearly has the talent to be a goal scorer.

What do you think Kreider's upside is?

And he had 10 goals in 48 games this year. He's had concussion issues. No thanks, unless it's really cheap.

With the physical tools he has, it's high. 30-40 goal potential, one year where he struggled isn't going to make me turn on him. I'm higher on him than Perron.

He clearly has the talent and has scored at this level before.

He's proven as much as JVR, if not more. You're advocating to trade Girardi, the team's leading ice time muncher for him. But wouldn't move Chris Kreider, an absolute unknown prospect who struggled this year for Perron?

I'll gladly eat crow if he constantly hits numbers of that ilk. I just don't see that happening IMO.

Lol yeah. Perron's 21 prorates to 30, but Callahan's 29, which also prorates to 30, isn't good enough.

What does Callahan have to do with this?

JVR is just coming into his own. He has size, hands, speed, the entire package. He was one of Toronto's best players in the playoffs, and he had an excellent regular season.

The team is too small as it is. Don't need another diminutive winger.

And "unknown prospect"? To who? Everyone knows about Kreider. Prospects struggle at times, doesn't mean you move them.

cammaleri's $6 mil would force the buyout of richards...and with 1 year left on his deal, his contract would prevent slats from spending the $$ he saves getting rid of richards by overpaying long term for another crappy ufa

Instead you're trading for an overpaid soon to be UFA who is also fairly crappy.

NYR have the right idea with Camma. Top 6 LW who will be bought cheap, on a non-committal salary.

Power play guy (or at least, he used to be), one-knee goal scorer, who has been good in the playoffs.

My only issues with him, not entirely convinced he still has the ability. But then again it's a contract year so maybe that works to our favor. He put up solid numbers in CGY this year. The year prior he wasn't great and has had some injury issues of his own.

If Calgary retains some salary (~ 2M) and he comes cheap, Cammy is a good option. But those are two pretty big ifs.

Totally agree. He is a pure scorer. He would be a good pick up. Area of need for sure.

JVR was excellent for the Leafs, but why is he not being knocked for being injury prone while Perron is? He suffered major foot injury that required surgery and concussions all of last year. He's also had a bunch of undisclosed upper/lower body injuries in his career according to the TSN tracker. And I don't see how the Leafs would move him as they have a pressing need for LW and he fits with Kessel like a glove.

Prospects struggle at times and in the case of Kreider, he struggled for the majority of his first pro season. That does not warrant him being valued above David Perron, a young, proven, scorer signed to a bargain contract. Sather would be quite silly to pass up on that opportunity.

Never said Kreider has more value than Perron. Said I wouldn't trade Kreider for Perron.

I agree with you too, just wondering what the Flames will ask in return. But I like our chances vs. Feaster. He made Greg Sherman look like Lou Lams.

Can you trade RFA's rights? Does that team still receive compensation if you sign that player?

I believe you can trade RFA rights. But the team that traded the rights away wouldn't receive compensation.
