Downey says he feels surprisingly well. Why does he sound like Ricky from the Trailer Park Boys?

Apparently Downey feels fine. He joked with PJ that he wants to play the next game.

Basically he said he's surprised he feels this good. Hopefully he'll be back soon!!

He's saying there are no regrets, he would have done the same thing.

Downey was talking about some massaging that was done on his neck/head and using all these big words. PJ says "where did you learn all those words?" and Downey joked that after the hit, he's doing crosswords better, using big words and his vocabulary has drastically increased.

Seems to be full of sportsmanship in Our Downey...

The Hit might have looked like the Tender one on Dimaio....but Downey's reaction looks way better then the DiMaio one...

I guess Downey feeling well (kinda) and DiMaio questioning on the future of his career might be the reason but still...

I'm starting to like the guy a little more now...

His message to the fans: He'll be back soon and when he does come back, it'll be more of what we saw vs Neil.

Good for Downey! Way too soon to expect to see him on the ice (IMO) but I'm really glad that there doesn't appear to be any long-lasting effects...

Souray was right, this guy really IS proud to wear the CH on his chest.

Get well soon Downy! If we had a few more guys playing with the desire he does we'd be alot higher in the standings come year-end, especially after yesterday's display from some players.

good, cause i didn't like what i saw last year, he barely had a real fight, we need him to drop em as often, it motivates a team and is a heck of a good show too!

He sounded like he had no effects from the concussion. That's weird and fun to hear.

Speaking from experience, concussion effects come and go, and you never know when they're going to come up. I'd be surprised if he plays at all in the next 2-3 weeks for precautionary reasons. The doctors won't clear him before then, anyway. You can never be too safe.

yeah...I was going to add that but I got lazy concussions are like that...one day the guy feels fine...the next he feels terrible. We'll have to wait and see...especialy after he tries some sort of physical activity.

KICKIN' RAD! That is absolutely great to hear that our resident Potato-man is feeling alright. I was fearing that might be it for the season for him. The guy's got heart, that's for sure.

Great to hear.

Who else sent Downey a potatoe in the hospital? That's what helped him get better.

I find PJ is at his best when he's interviewing players. He has insights that journalists just don't have. He can joke around and make them feel comfortable in a way that you don't get on other shows.

I know he sometimes gets criticism for the way his show is conducted , but when he's interviewing players he usually gets really good results.

I'm hot and cold with his show. I think he's a good guy, that's his show's strength.

He gets into subjects over his head sometimes though. I don't think I'm any brighter than he is, but he gets involved in stuff he knows little about. He doesn't always get that the world goes way beyond the locker room.

He's best when he has someone on with him to sort of steer him out of trouble.

I agree though, he has acess to players that others don't. It's even better when he lets them talk. Remember his Koivu interview ? Koivu had a message to get out and never got the chance imo.

Downey is one of the few who doesn't treat members of the media as if they're beneath him. He's very approachable and quotable, not to mention hard-working and generous (gave teammates bags potatoes from his farm.)
