Dale Tallon can also have Kyle Beach and Dylan Olsen.

You don't trade a potential/probable superstar for a pile of garbage - none of which is likely to be more than a 3rd liner.

I saw it mentioned earlier to have it be Bolland, Leddy, TT & the #30 pick for the #2...and honestly even that likely isn't even close to enough.

How would you feel if Chicago drafted Nicolas Petan? If he's available at 30th would you take Petan?

The second overall selection in the 2013 NHL Draft
#2 pick from the last 10 years
2012: Ryan Murray
2011: Gabriel Landeskog
2010: Tyler Seguin
2009: Victor Hedman
2008: Drew Doughty
2007: James van Riemsdyk
2006: Jordan Staal
2005: Bobby Ryan
2004: Evgeni Malkin
2003: Eric Staal

Funny how much you bash Bolland and then he is the best player in the deal for the #2 pick in the NHL entry draft.

I would be fine with numerous guys at the 30th spot, Nic Petan among them. He really stood out at the Mem. Cup. Reminded me a bit of Kane.

Like I've said, I'd prefer a Dman (Pulock, Morrissey, Theodore, Santini), but if we pick a forward, I'd be happy with Petan.

Nice write up by Chris Peters at United States of Hockey re the top US picks in the draft: http://unitedstatesofhockey.com/2013...prospects-1-8/

Interesting that he has Hartman going late 1st/early second and ranked after Santini and Compher. I would have put him before them.

Peters used to work for NTDP...so may have a bias towards those players (or may just pay attention to them more). That said, his stuff is usually pretty good.

With that said, I'm way more familiar w/ OHL players so maybe that's just why I tend towards them more.

...in any event, given we're picking so late in the 1st, it looks like some of the potential BPAs are going to be from the US...and they all look pretty good

I don't know a ton about Fasching - but from what i've seen he looks good - and I think we'd be lucky if he was around for a 2nd round pick.

no, i think he's probably top 15 w/ an outside chance at late top 10. Even if he falls out of that, i don't it will be all the way to 30.

Hartman was also a USNDP member, so cant really call bias there..

Everyone has different opinions and though I agree and think Hartman goes before both Santini and Compher, I like them all.

It will be an interesting draft for the US, I think they can squeeze 5-6 in the first round, but most will be 25-30 range as plenty of kids are hovering there (McCarron, McCoshen, Lodge, Bailey, Santini, Vannelli, etc).

I still think the Hawks snag one of the US kids as they typically go the college route, gives Stan time to evaluate them and no need to rush them...

yeah, i forgot that...i was thinking of erne (who, incidentally, Peters has ranked #2...so my 'bias' theory was obviously way off )

Corey Pronman recently said that opinions on Pulock from scouts are all over the place and in general their not as high on him as they were earlier in the year. Pronman speculated he wouldn't be surprised if he went anywhere from 15-35.

So, yes, there's a chance. I wouldn't bet on it, but it's there. Chicago's gotten fortunate with some fallers the past two years.. what's the saying, 3 for a dollar? Cha-ching.

No doubt. Him and Morrissey are 1 and 2 at the top of my list for prospects I'd want the Hawks to draft at #30.

It's probably a bit if a pipe dream that either are there.. but, like I said, the Hawks have gotten lucky recently and took advantage of it.
