It isn't fair. DD wouldn't even be a Center on our team, and Polak would fetch a better player from other teams. MTL fans try to push DD off on other teams so much its making me despise him.

We might be able afford either Weiss or Roy. Weiss would be a good fit, he'd be a very good #2, should produce 50-60 points with very competent defense. If we could keep his contract to 4 years or fewer at the 5-6m range he'd be a worthwhile add. I think these numbers are relatively plausible:

FORWARDS
David Perron ($3.813m) / David Backes ($4.500m) / T.J. Oshie ($4.175m)
Alexander Steen ($3.363m) / Stephen Weiss ($5.500m) / Vladimir Tarasenko ($1.750m)
Jaden Schwartz ($1.167m) / Patrik Berglund ($3.500m) / Chris Stewart ($3.500m)
Adam Cracknell ($0.600m) / Vladimir Sobotka ($1.300m) / Ryan Reaves ($0.600m)
Chris Porter ($0.675m) /

DEFENSEMEN
Jay Bouwmeester ($6.680m) / Alex Pietrangelo ($7.000m)
Kevin Shattenkirk ($4.500m) / Barret Jackman ($3.167m)
Roman Polak ($2.750m) / Kris Russell ($1.300m)
Ian Cole ($0.825m) /

GOALTENDERS
Brian Elliott ($1.800m)
Jake Allen ($2.500m)

Trade Halak, if you need more cap space don't resign Stewart. That forward depth is really impressive. The 6/7 defenseman slot is a weak point though...I certainly wouldn't mind bringing back Leopold.

If we're wanting a cheaper option for a #3 center someone like Burmistrov would be worth a look.

Weiss would be a complete bust at that price. Not only was he struggling big time last season, he suffered a major wrist injury, so it's doubtful he comes back full strength.

I outlined Weiss as a good candidate for the Blues top line center position..but there are sure to be several teams in hot pursuit of him, almost certainly driving up his cap price

discussed it. Bruins fans don't like it, as wouldn't I if he would be on my team.
I'd love him with the Blues but it won't happen.

btw Seguin is pretty much everything but a stop-gap solution, better continue in the trade prosposal thread

If the avalanche go forward with the 1st overall pick, I could see the avs and blues swing a deal revolving around Stastny: Cole a prospect and a 1st/2nd depending on the prospect?

A deal would probably be Perron+Cole, but who knows if a deal would happen because we will be in the same division.

We weren't in the same division as Colorado at the time and with the new playoff format, trades within the division will be even rarer IMO.

ah true, my mistake...but still, I highly doubt a team would rule out 6 teams just because they are in the same division.

How about the rights to Filppula + pick for the rights to Stewart? Of course, im perfectly content to have Holland send an offer sheet his way if need be

The right of a soon to be UFA who wants ridiculous money we'd never pay to a guy like him for RFA Stewart?

Have fun with the offer sheet.

It's all ok!
For Stewart? A top-6 center.
With a + on our side if necessary.

So unless you wanna part with your captain or your superstar I don't think we are good trading partners...

yeah, I'd rather give up the 1st + 3rd or the 1st + 2nd + 3rd and go the offer sheet route (depending on the $ amount it would take and this upcoming seasons compensation numbers)
