What's going on with Markov?

I know it's only 6 games in, but what's going on with Markov?

He does'nt seem to be in it at all.

I've never noticed this many bad passes by Markov. I mean im so used to see him pass the puck tape to tape, but yesterday...eeesh.

He seems very tentative out there. Like he's uncomfortable. He really hasnt been the Markov from last year.

Someone fix him

I think he's depressed because he's balding.

It might be because he's emo now?

Check that hair. He's probably on the ice thinking about how life is unfair and that he would like a girl that isn't a liar.

He hasn't played up to his standards...but i wouldn't say he's been horrible either. He's made a few bad passes but alot of those passes you could blame the forwards for leaving the defensive zone too quickly.

Even when Markov isn't at his best, he's still good. I'm not overly concerned, he'll get it together.

He's overrated
Honestly , I agree 100% , He's been pretty awful so far. And I disagree with 417, he's not that good when he's off his game. I hear people moaning about Souray and Rivet and Niniimaa all the time but Markov has been by far the most dangerous "turnover" guy for us this season. I'll give him credit for last night against Chicago, he wasn't TOO horrible

I'm starting to consider him simply as a slow starter. If I remember correctly, we allways praise him as an all star after christmas.

Havlat's goal yesterday was all his fault. Of course Houde and Pedneault didn't say it, they even PRAISED his game after.

He'd better get his act together. For someone on the verge of becoming a UFA, Markov isn't demonstrating that he's a $5M Dman. Frankly, I don't think anyone would pay him that much based on his current performance.

I partly disagree with that. That goal was all-players-on-the-ice's fault. The forwards stopped skating the second Havlat passed the blue line, Markov didn't try that much to stop him and Abby didn't look great at all on that goal.

True Markov seems a bit off since the start of the season (so are Rivet and Souray - except for his 2 goals game), but I'm sure it'll all come back in place soon.

Maybe we should be thankful.

If he continues to play this way, we can sign him long term for around $3 million per season & then he can revert back to all-star form when our younger players have another year or two of maturity & development & the Cup is ours for 6 straight years.

Yesterday he stopped a havlat breakway when he was trying to deke him. Sourray would've been owned on that play if he were in markov's place. I also clearl remember Markov doing a spinorama move to keep the puck in play . i don't know about you guys but I also look at the good things players do with the bad and right now, Markov's doing more good than bad. Yes, he isn't at his best but he's clearly better than every other defenseman in our team with perhaps beside his Tandem.

people relax markov IS a real talent i would worry more about the fact we don't have a legitimate pairing partner worthy of him.

Yeah his passes are so bad... He's only got 4 assists in 6 games and is only on pace for 55 of them...

I have to disagree with you on that, Komisarek is looking better right now, more mobile and especially more confident.

I was wondering too what was happening to Markov... he looks totally disinterested, and this ain't good. Seems to lack that usual mobility and agility he had last seasons...

Hoping for a turnaround here, but I'm sure it'll happen

GO MARKOV !

True, same thing happened to Komisarek and his mother. Actually yes Komisarex is playing better than Markov is, but let's hope this will hcange soon and that markov comes back to life....

This guy is so lost, sorry! the story that he got lost to go to the golf tournament AND lost the map to get there...was just hilarious, can he be more "vedge" than that please? I mean even in the quizz of the journal the montreal he was all answering "I don't know I don't know"
