Brad Richards NOT being bought out

@TSNBobMcKenzie: NYR will not be using their remaining compliance buyout this summer so Brad Richards will remain a Blueshirt.

He really better not get hurt this season. Because unless he scores 80 points he still needs to be bought out next July.

Just great. Keeping a $6.6M player that has no place on this roster. Nice work, Glen.

It's a big risk. So is entering the season with 3 proven NHL centers. So is overpaying Vinny L, Weiss, or Filppula.

I understand being upset about it. Could get ugly. I've got my fingers crossed.

All long time Rangers fans know in the bottom of their hearts that Brad Richards will probably get injured in March or April and miss next summer's buyout period. Its inevitable at this point.

This is a giant mistake IMO. Even if he returns to the hockey player he was in his prime, it still wouldn't be a good decision.

I hope he doesn't get injured....

My last hope is that this means the Rangers have had interest from teams in trading for Richards, but they felt teams were holding out for him to be bought out.

Doesn't he have a no movement clause in his contract?

May not have been Glen's call. That being said, let's just hope Richards doesn't get hurt.

It would be a disaster if Richards gets traded.

The only smart thing to do is to buy him out.

Moronic. Where does he even fit on the roster? Brassard to LW, I guess?

Richards will suffer an injury and won't be eligible for a buyout. Take it to the bank.

If he gets a small injury, technically he can't be bought out... unless he goes the Drury route. I posted this a while ago. Wouldn't it be better for him financially if he allows a buyout if he has an injury that's small enough to deal with? Obviously this wouldn't happen if it's a career-ending injury, but if it's small, there's nothing to worry about.

I'm a fan of this.

On another note, is it possible Richards is currently injured?

Don't mind giving him another year to see how he'll do. If he gets a major injury wouldn't he just go on ltir and the cap not count?

Just like Drury?

Let's all wait until next year instead of all of us claiming we're psychic.

Bwahahahah. Gonna be a boring off-season around here. Not much room to do anything but sign the RFAs.

Anyone who has ever played hockey could see it clearly. Brad Richards is FINISHED. He had NOTHING last year. No legs, nothing. The lockout was an excuse.

Very disappointed in the organization right now. Another year of BEAVER!!!!!!!! ****!
