Has any player in history received as much love for as little performance as John Tavares? I mean, i like the guy and all but...c'mon

Tavares is one of the best players in the league who carried a mediocre team to the playoffs.

He's a good player but people overrate him big time on here. They'll downgrade anybody he plays with just to make him sound better.

The VERY SECOND Tavares falls below PPG pace for a season is also the VERY SECOND he's reverted to a second-tier forward in the eyes of the HFBoards public.

Likewise, the VERY SECOND Giroux dropped from a 90-point forward to a PPG forward (even for half a freaking season) was the VERY SECOND he went from top 3 to maybe top 10.

The HFBoards' masses are the definition of a "pop-idiocy" phenomenon that has taken over society. I blame MTV and ESPN.

He wasn't even a PPG player this year. He had a good year don't get me wrong but you would think he was top 5 in scoring this year the way people talk about him on here.

All the Leafs fans and Oilers fans vying to be most homer fans on the trade boards is hilarious.

Hearing VAN Canucks are now contemplating using a compliance buyout on Roberto Luongo since they're having a hard time trading him.

Josh Rimer ‏@JoshRimerHockey 1m
I'm not in anyway saying they'll do it, but they have discussed it and it looks like a possible option.
So it took about a year to get to the idea? I could be in VAN management as well!

Weber, Suter, Spezza to the Flyers, Couturier's hands to the Wild, Couturier's head to Nashville and the rest of Couturier to Ottawa. That's the best analysis I can provide on a trade involving more than two teams.

Edit: However, someone on the main board claimed this is not a credible source so take it with a grain of salt I guess...

@JoeFlyer - I hope we both know I wasn't serious in any way, but I still know how salary cap works...

Dude, all you have to do is check the guy's twitter page. If it shows he has 104 followers, it's safe to assume it's a joke.

It was a fan making a joke not an actual trade going down. All those guys cover those teams and are/were at to dinner with each other.

Panotch made a joke that Homer's going to pull the trigger on a trade and ruin his dinner orginally.

Yeah But when players are traded now can't the teams split the salary? ...So you know... I could have worked

I know now, after this faux pas I just logged off and watched. Which will be the best way to go through this weekend.

Yzerman woter a letter to fans, and there are other things in the works, apparently. This is a pretty nic article about Lecavalier:

Lavoie and McKenzie report that Tyler Seguin is now available to other teams, kings ransom the expected asking price.

McKenzie also says Horton unlikely to be a Bruin next season.

Man, I would love to get Seguin on the Flyers, but we don't really need him unless he is strictly a W now. If he is he would be great on G's wing I would think.

at Mike Smith getting $5.7M over 6 years if true

That seems interesting considering that team may not be there in 24 hours.

Well that's what they are trying to stop. Comcast certainly has the money. Maybe Bettman asked Snider if he could help out....... and we only agreed if we get Pietrangelo for free from St Louis.
