Yeah, alright. I don't think so, friend.

Anyway, this is well deserved and seeing Bergeron stay in Boston for years to come will be great not only for Boston, but I think it will be great for Bergeron as well.

Ummm, da ya think so??

The buyouts are happening all over the NHL and a guy that has a long history of injuries is getting an 8 year offer?

Look I know how good a player he is, but the risk?

The future captain of the Bruins. I think he'll take a discount and show others what sacrifices a leader makes to give his team a chance at competing for a cup.

There shouldn't be, but have a feeling he will have some of the Datsyuk hate coming his way soon, posts like this following one just to be contrarian.

A complete player...deserving of a good deal...8 years seems long though, how old is he?

BTW, no such thing as a hometown discount...agents don't allow it...

i hope not, thats not a discount...chris kunitz is a discount, anything over 6 is not a discount. a discount would be 5-5.5...if he gets 6, its market value.

I don't know why we are expecting a discount. $6m is a discount for the type of player that he is, I don't see how it's an issue. Toews makes $6.3m and Datsyuk, even at his age, is getting $7.5m (final contract, 3 years, older player etc. I know, but the point stands.)

If Bergeron takes a discount to sign at $6.0m I will be happy

To most fans, he's worth north of 7, so yes, 6-6.5M is a discount. The best number 2 center in the game who could be a 1C on about half to 1/3 of the teams in the league. Annual Selke finalist. Players like that get huge money on the open market.

agree to disagree, if he gets anything north of 6per year, i will think its overpayment.

I agree. If you're getting length you should take a little cut. I think 8 years 6-6.5 is fair

I think Beregeron deserves a fair bit more than Seguin, and I imagine his agent will as well

Patrice Bergeron is Rajon Rondo is Wes Welker. It's a Boston thing.

These guys were so underrated and praised for being underrated that over time they have become overrated.

The guy saying 7 million....wow....cap suicide to give this guy 7 million. Just my 2 cents.

8 years would bring him to 35 which isn't bad at all for our future captain. He also plays a sustainable game if that makes any sense. And this deal is done in my opinion. Had they won the cup it would've been announced already. They're just giving it a little grace period.

He's not very good. You should probably be real mean and rip Montreal off and deal him there for a 3rd... If we're feeling nice.

You don't want to go down this road.

Great player at both ends of the ice and a well respected individual.
