Up to 200 players could move this summer, a GM told Elliot Friedman.

Elliot Friedman said that a GM told him that up to 200 players could be on the move this summer, making it the most active summer in a long time. He never said who the GM was but he did say it. And he wouldn't say it if he didnt think there was some truth to it.

"largest player movement we've ever seen"

He was on the Mark Spector show today. FF to minute 53 on this podcast.Mark Spector show June 28 hour 1

Sounds like pure BS. It's been quite slow lately.

Was it tongue-in-cheek talking about Sunday's Entry Draft? Seven rounds times 30 teams equals 210 players.

Um, the finals ended four days ago, and there has been a handful of significant moves already (Briere, Lecavalier, Bryzgalov, Bernier). Wait until the draft. The floodgates will be opening.

LOL - that's about one third of the league.

Every team is going to have ~7 new players? Not happening.

1. It's the Mark Spector show
2. There's been a whole lot of talking from various pundits including Terry Jones and BMac, and little action taking place.

That is most likely on the insanely high side of things. Sure would be interesting though.

I believe it is a fairly safe bet that 0-200 players will get moved this offseason. Not really going out on a limb if you think about it.

No way it would be closer to 100 players moved. Or each team bringing in roughly 3 new players.

Well, Philly will probably move at least 20. There's 1/10th of it right off the bat.

If that were to happen, trading would start on Saturday, I would think.

I'm pretty sure he would be including prospects. Even then, that's a very high number. I don't see the Jets moving more than 2 guys for example.

Prospects/AHLers, too. Not that I think it's going to happen but there are more players in the equation than you're accounting for.

There will be a lot of activity though.

Last season isles had Boyes, Aucoin, McDonald, Boulton added up front and Strait, Visnovsky, Hickey, Carkner and Finley on D.

That's 9. Less moves this time around, probably only 3 but after that, I don't see 200 so much. Anyone guessing how many players changedast offseason?

He said this on a Buffalo radio station last week as well. He also said that he's heard from a few GMs/Assistant GMs that multiple teams are going to use this off season to completely change their franchise. Buffalo was more than likely one of those teams but I can't think of too many that are going for a complete rebuild like he said.

Probably means around 200 players are available as trade bait, so in theory up to 200 could move. Not that 200 will move.
