If you need evidence for why DB is a bad coach feel free to visit the Pens board it's been discussed to death.

That really means nothing. Fans like to complain due to unrealistic expectations and it's usually directed at the coaches or goalie by default. It doesn't mean there isn't some validity to the complaints but most team's fans are too emotionally attached to be fair.

And what's the alternative? Have you read the Flyers or Rangers boards about Lavy or Torts? The old posts on the Toronto board about Wilson? People complain, usually irrationally, a lot.

Not happy about Bylsma but realistically who else would be out there?

For the 2010 Olympics they named the training camp roster on June 30th and then the camp started on August 17th.

I would imagine something similar with a delay on both dates since the staff won't even be announced until the 29th and Olympic participation will be such a late announcement in the process. Still should be soon though as they need to have the camp before NHL training camps start.

I like seeing Shero and Burke being part of the process too. Lots of good guys running the show.

Trying to spread out the size on the top 3 lines here as I remember Parise Statsny Kane was awfully small.
Dont worry about which line is listed 1,2,3. Minutes allotted by performance.

Ryan (A)Kesler Kane
JVR Statsny Kessel
Parise Backes (C)Callahan-great two way matchup line
Brown Pavelski Oshie
Stepan
(A)Suter Martin
(A)JJ Carlson
Yandle McDonagh-not sure if either can play the Right real well
Shattenkirk

Quick
Howard
Miller/Schneider

Top PP
Kessel Kesler Kane
JJ Shattenkirk
Ryan Statsny Parise
JJ Shattenkirk

PK
Kesler Callahan
Pavelski Parise
Backes Oshie?

Bubble-(Stepan, JVR)
Pacioretty, Pominville
EJohnson, Orpik

Dan Bylsma officially announced as the head coach today. Congrats to the coach and best wishes on leading our team!

@chrismpeters: Johannson: USA Hockey orientation camp will be held August 25-29 at Kettler in Washington, D.C.

@chrismpeters: David Poile says the core of 2010's team will be back mostly, with some new-style players that can contribute on the big ice.

So if they follow the same timeframe as 2010 but with a later camp start date then that would mean the USA players invited to camp would be announced on July 8 by my calculations.

@usahockey Expect men's Olympic assistants to be named in next two weeks.

It will be interesting to see who they choose given how much Bylsma and Poile emphasized the necessity to change the approach from 2010 to adapt to the international ice.

Given that, I would think they're going to look for assistant coaches that are familiar with the international game due to Bylsma's lack of experience. I would imagine at least one of the two assistants would be another NHL head coach (Tortorella, Laviolette, Richards, Rolston, Capuano, Cooper). It seems likely they'll choose at least one of Tortorella or Laviolette as both have international experience and were finalists to be the head coach. Richards could also be in play as he's "very close with Bylsma" according to Aaron Portzline and he has international experience as well. Rolston, Capuano, and Cooper are all probably too green at this point. I also would not be surprised if Phil Housley gets a long look as well as USA Hockey seems to love him and he's very familiar with the international game.

Noticed that. Gibson too. Obviously Burke has gotten a good look at the Ducks. But I imagine Fowler will be given a great opportunity to make the team.

Just Burke trying to make noise and get these guys on the minds of the other GMs who will be choosing the summer camp roster soon in all likelihood.

Well, Fowler does make some sense on big ice. If the US team wants speed, mobility, and puck movement he's exactly the type of player they would want, and he's always given USA Hockey a reason to consider him. That being said, he has an uphill battle, I think. There are more established defensemen available, and they'd have to really like what he brings to consider him over some of them. 2018 is far more likely.

Gibson I just don't see. Not for Sochi. Invite him to the summer camp, sure, but he's got no pro experience. That seems like it would be unprecedented for a country like the US, especially with some of the other options in goal. He's a fantastic young goalie prospect, but this is the Olympics.

Agreed on both accounts. Just thrilled we have a great looking team in the present and in the future.

US team looks scary good, easily number 4 or even tied for second with Sweden and Russia. Here are some teams I wrote down yesterday night:

a)

James Van Riemsdyk - Paul Statsny - Phil Kessel
Zach Parise- Joe Pavelski - Patrick Kane
Max Pacioretty - Ryan Kesler - Ryan Callahan
Ryan Carter - David Backes - Dustin Brown
Derek Stepan

Ryan Suter - Keith Yandle
Ryan McDonagh - Jack Johnsson
Paul Martin - Brooks Orpik
Kevin Shattenkirk

Jonathan Quick
Ryan Miller
Craig Andersson

PP1
James Van Riemsdyk - Paul Statsny - Phil Kessel
Jack Jonsson - Paul Martin
PP2
Zach Parise - Joe Pavelski - Patrick Kane
Ryan Suter - Keith Yandle
PK1
Ryan Kesler - Ryan Callahan
Ryan McDonagh - Brooks Orpik
PK2
David Backes - Dustin Brown
Ryan Suter - Keith Yandle

b)

Zach Parise - Derek Stepan - Phil Kessel
Max Pacioretty - Paul Stastny - Patrick Kane
Joe Pavelski - Ryan Kesler- Jason Pominville
Ryan Callahan - David Backes - Dustin Brown
James Van Riemsdyk

Ryan Suter - Kevin Shattenkirk
Ryan McDonagh - Paul Martin
Jack Johnson - Zach Bogosian
Keith Yandle

Jonathan Quick
Craig Andersson
Cory Scheider

PP1
Max Pacioretty - Derek Stepan - Phil Kessel
Jack Johnsson - Jason Pominville
PP2
Zach Parise - Paul Stastny - Patrick Kane
Ryan Suter - Ryan Kesler
PK1
Ryan Callahan - David Backes
Ryan Suter - Zach Bogosian
PK2
Joe Pavelski - Dustin Brown
Ryan McDonagh - Paul Martin

It took some time to think of two different teams for all five countries; Canada, Sweden, Finland, Russia, USA..

Yea that's a bit random. Might go in the fourth line but I guess there are better options.. But I did two teams for 4 other countries as well so they are not the most carefully planned teams .
