Grossmann has been really good for us since coming over. He has been our best defensive defenseman. He plays a very physical style. On the downside, he has had a concussion and a knee injury since arriving.

[QUOTE=orange is better;68214325]Coburn + Cousins for 7th overall.

7th, 11th + Laughton to Florida for 2nd overall.Draft Jones.

You have to be joking? I keep the three and run to the bank.

The Kings couldn't afford him either way, and we don't have a replacement in the organization for Clifford, not to mention we are way too flush with centers. I am merely curious about Flyer fan opinion on Grossman.
A shutdown pairing with Coburn. Timonen/Schenn is 1A/1B.

Got injured in a practice and caused a concussion which shortened his season.

A recent column discussed some of this:

Quote:
A defenseman the Flyers should consider moving to make cap space is Nick Grossmann. Yes, Grossmann was the Flyers’ best shot-blocker when he was in the lineup, but he has also missed a lot of games because of injury.

Grossmann missed the final 18 games of last season with a concussion. Holmgren said Grossmann is now cleared, but it was serious enough that Grossmann did visit Pittsburgh concussion specialist Dr. Micky Collins twice for consultation. He also missed time with a knee injury during his first run with the Flyers.

Grossmann, 28, is not old. But he isn’t fleet of foot, either. And a premium should be placed on speed, something the Flyers were clearly lacking.

No way in hell do i think we should move Grossmann, he's a lot of fun to watch if your a fan of the little things...last year he did improve noticeably to me in handling the puck, he is still showing a ton of growth in areas of his game and its hard for me to have any desire to trade a guy like that...especially one who blocks shots and clears the crease. We are looking smallish on D outside of Luke Schenn, always good to have a physical presence back there. Paired with a puck mover (Gustafson?) i think he would look great.

Okay, I'm sitting here right now watching the NHL Network and at the bottom they are going through their draft "projections. they have Jones going 1, Droin 2 and Mac 3. They also list Nashvilles pick as "forfeited". WTF is up with that???? Did something happen that they lost their pick???

grossmann had 82 blocked shots in only 30 games, more than guys like Alex Edler, Ryan Suter, Duncan Keith and Zdeno Chara who make a lot more money than him. for 3.5m it's not that bad for what he brings to the table over a full season.

Everyone please stop saying Seth Jones to Philadelphia is a legit possibility. You guys are making me way to excited for the draft and setting me up for disappointment. Thank you

There's a 99% chance Jones won't be a Flyer by the end of the week. There's too many dominoes that would need to fall for that to happen.

I honestly would prefer the 5th or 7th (if its even a possibility?) over moving one of those picks and the 11th+ to move up to acquire a pick that would get us Jones more than likely the 2nd pick with Florida.

If I was GM and we got the 5th or 7th in a deal with Coburn and keep the 11th, I keep those picks and run with them. Rather have 2 top prospects instead of packaging them both to move up for Jones, mainly b/c with 2 great prospects the chances are higher we strike gold.

Agreed. I keep fantasizing about a draft day were the Flyers walk away with Nichushkin and Ristolainen.

I don't think it is necessarily rising but you have the Philly media running in full force with the Pronger comparisons.

Sounds like it wouldn't get it done anyways.

Dreger just tweeted another video update. He said the Flyers would prefer to trade Mez over Coburn but there isn't much of a market for Mez because of his health issues. He reiterated again that Coburn won't come cheap and MPS won't get it done.

Mezaros might only be tradeable once he can pass a full physical in another month or so.

As things are shaking down. I see one of our D getting traded for 2nd(s) or a 3rd
Liner and prospect.

Other than that I see us picking at 11 with no moving up or down.

Which at the end of the day I'm okay with

I don't think it makes a difference really. I don't think he's completely untradable. I just think the return for him would be very very minimal this offseason. I think that's why they're trying to trade Coburn because he can bring back a good package that could fill some holes. I also think trading Coburn would be a first move leading to another one (likely Read getting traded).

Meh...the price has to be right. I'm not too keen on adding another center to this team. Plus, you know he's gonna want 3+ years at a high-ish cap hit.

If they plan on moving Schenn to wing it wouldn't be too bad of a move. Vinny still has some years left in the tank. He's been a pretty good player the last few years but it's overshadowed because of his horrible contract.

In the end I think the Flyers are just kicking the tires on Vinny. I don't see them being a top bidder for him because its not an absolute need.

I find it hard to believe Coburn straight up gets you #5 overall. I hope I'm wrong though.

They need to move at least one guy on the backend. There's just too much money tied up there for the output they are getting. I like Grossman, but he's too expensive to be a third pairing guy in this cap situation. Add that to his injury history and lack of mobility, I wouldn't be upset if he's moved.

I think if you sign lecavalier then don't trade coburn. Lecavalier is a win now move. And it will stunt the growth of our centers.

Panotch said we were in talks with Calgary for the #6 pick but dropped out because of the price being too high.
