Not necessarily, if you see Schenn's long-term as a winger.

Schenn - Giroux - Voracek
Hartnell - Lecavalier - Stalberg
Simmonds - Couturier - Read
Rinaldo - Laughton - Talbot

Timonen - Schenn
Streit - Coburn
Gustafsson - Grossmann

Mason
Emery

Asking for Couturier or Schenn obviously.

That's a pretty great looking lineup.

I'm not a fan of Vinny being signed. I'm just tired of the surplus of centers.

Not an ideal offseason but I certainly wouldn't mind this one bit.

RT @Real_ESPNLeBrun: Flyers quite keen on Lecavalier. Yet another team.

Before people start freaking out, we should all know by now that there really isn't anyone ever the Flyers aren't interested in.

For the right price I have no problem with Vinny coming here. Most likely he won't choose Philly because they aren't going to outbid everyone else for a luxury center but if it's not completely about the money for him seeing he just got bought out I say why not? He's only 33. Max I would want is a 3 year 4-4.75 per but I doubt that is going to get it done.

The Flyers are in NYC now. They weren't supposed to be there until tomorrow.

They met with Vinny and his camp there but I wonder if anything else goes down since they're there earlier now.

I was at work, so I'm just catching up.

Is this all true?

Dreger reported that we had offers of 5th overall from CAR and 7th overall + a 3rd from EDM for Coburn?

Then Garrioch said Calgary offered their two lower firsts for Read + a 3rd?

Trade Read + Coburn and end up with 5th + 11th + 22nd + 28th?

Seriously?

Done.

I'd throw 1 year @ 6.5m at him to see if he bites. Why not?

Kind of like the Semen deal.

Honestly, this is the kind of offseason where I could see a lot of weird **** happening as people try to get a handle on the market. There's such much insanity right now, and that's going to lead to some bizarre shuffling around the NHL.

If it is true I don't know why the deal hasn't been made. Homer could flip some of those picks for other assests. At the same time draft picks are overrated in terms of roster players that can immediately help.

Sources tell TSN Lecavalier camp has met with Dallas, St. Louis, Philli and Montreal with more to come tonite.
Source: Ryan Rishaug @TSNRyanRishaug

So there's quite a market for Vinny, since he's not an exact need hopefully Homer doesn't get in a bidding war.

According to Dreger on the 5th or 7th picks...

Holmgren is waiting for one of the two teams to sweeten the pot a bit since the trade offers are very similar...

That's according to Dreger.

Best case scenerio is both picks pan out and become as good as Read is now. Unlikely.

There were less than credible attachments used to publicize the rumors. Some not as substantial as others. Separately, Tim P.'s twitter comment if used as a measuring device:

The Coburn trade talk is NOT about getting EDM 1stR pick (7); it's about their 2 second-round picks which would give Flyers 3 in that round

They are late...but with Philadelphia...and forwards...in this draft class?

You gotta believe we have a shot in the latter ends of the 1st to pick up some quality forwards...

Particularly if you take the need for defensemen out of the window with those two early 1sts...then you can draft forwards to your hearts content at 22, 28, and 41...

Our scouts wouldn't know what to do with themselves, like all those random 1sts and 2nds we traded away came right back and smacked them in the face in the best possible draft.

Assuming the 5th pick is just what Holmgren wants and isnt true...Would you trade Coburn for the 7th?

I might be ok with that on a 1 year deal since Timonen will be off the books next year allowing us to reup all of our young guns. I'm just expecting him to look for a few years.

Maybe the FAs are holding up the trades? GMs waiting for those chips to fall?

Was there ever a link or video of Dreger mentioning Carolina's 5th or Edmonton's 7th for Coburn? All I have seen is Dreger talking about MPS for Coburn

Yes, I would definitely take that trade.
We would still be in position to draft a top defender if we make
this trade and a run on defenders starts after pick#5.
We should still have a chance of drafting Ristolainen, Morrissey or Pulock.
We will still have #11 to pickup another top prospect.
