It's a deep enough draft and we might be able to sign Read on a cap friendly deal. I'd take that. Right now Read is 3rd line, two firsts for a 3rd liner is fine with me. Mike Richards and Giroux were all in the 20's I wouldn't write them off just because they're late first rounders in this draft.

Laughton...
Gagne...
Giroux...
Richards...
Downie...

I'll give our staff a shot at 22 and 28 for Read. In a heartbeat.

There didn't appear to be anything to confirm that outside of an isolated Twitter comment from an unfamiliar account.

Same. Why can't we get wingers to play wing and centres to play centre. Schenn should stay in the middle I think.

Well the only time Ive seen somone mentioning that Dreger said we had offers (5th overall or the 7th overall+3rd round) for Coburn came from a single poster on the trade board. There has been no mention of it anywhere, even though the poster said Dreger mentioned it on the NHL Network. Not to mention that NHLN has only been showing SCF reruns tonight.

We should still have a chance of drafting Ristolainen, Morrissey or Pulock.
We will still have #11 to pickup another top prospect.
There's no defensemen worthy of selecting at #5. It would be really dumb to pass up one of those high end forwards if you ended up with that pick.

Edit: Disregard I thought you meant drafting a defensemen at #5 and #11.

NHL Network has "updates" or short segments between periods of playoff reruns. Plus it's playing a scouting combine special right now where I'm from so if you're seeing playoff reruns then the lineup is different in different locations (like US and Canada for example).

Well...

I got a text from my friend about it, and I know for a fact he doesn't read HFBoards.

I also saw it on the Flyers facebook thing when I browsed it quickly earlier.

Who knows...

Agree. He's better at center than wing. When Briere was the center he sucked on his line at wing. When they tried to find Giroux another winger they put Schenn there he sucked again before finally putting Voracek there. Once they put him back in the middle his play elevated.

Maybe you guys are on to something. I hope you are, anyway. I'm currently out to dinner so I don't know what's on NHLN currently.

If we can turn Coburn into Nichushkin and then draft Ristolainen I'll let our defense suffer for a bit.

Sounds like he's meeting with everyone except Tampa

EDIT: I can see him fitting in well with Detroit. He'd be a good #2 center for them.

Exactly. If they trade up to five, I'm almost certain that Nachuskin is the guy that they're targeting. Barkov likely goes to Nashville as he's a Poile type of player. If they go to 7, I think they take Nurse thinking he might not get to 11.

Either way, I want no part of Morin at 11. I'm very weary of guys that shoot way up the board as a project player.

He can't play for Tampa Bay for another year since he was bought-out by them.

Being a flyers fan is tiring - you get all these big rumors and names thrown out there and you get homer usually denying it, but you know you can't take homer for his word, i must have refreshed twitter about 500 times today.

I said it the other day, I wouldn't be mad with the Morin pick if we had any other guys in the system. Morin would be a good pick for a team that can take that risk on him and doesn't exactly need him ASAP. That's why I think he's a bad fit for us at #11.

What time's the draft coverage start tomorrow anyway?

You'd think I would know this...

Or that upon realizing I don't know this that I would look it up...

Nope. I'm just that lazy. So I'm asking the audience.

No. All he said is they would want a young forward and it would take much more than MPS.

I believe the NHL Network will start at 1 and then you have to switch over to NBCSN at 3 for the actual draft.

It was. But their doing the whole draft in one day today as opposed to seperating the first round from the rest.
