Schenn + Schenn is a hell of a package.

They keep a partner for Shattenkirk and get a real #2 two-way center with potential to be their #1.

A #2 defenseman and a #2 center for a #1 defenseman.
I don't think STL does that--not unless Pietrangelo wants a simply insane contract (in which case, it probably doesn't make sense for us either).

If he was being problematic on the signing front then yes.

Reportedly he wants over 7m, but STL doesn't want to give it to him.

And they said they'll match any offersheet.

Yes, but StL probably wouldn't.

Is this all true?

Dreger reported that we had offers of 5th overall from CAR and 7th overall + a 3rd from EDM for Coburn?

Then Garrioch said Calgary offered their two lower firsts for Read + a 3rd?

1) Trade Read + Coburn and end up with 5th + 11th + 22nd + 28th?

Seriously?

Done.
2) Offer sheet Pietrangelo 1 year $10 mil.

3) Profit.

I probably wouldn't, but I don't think I would be upset if the Flyers did. If Petro is a true #1 defender, I can stomach the trade. I wouldn't be thrilled about it, but I wouldn't complain. That being said, I don't think I am as high on Petro as others are. Maybe I just don't know enough about him, but is he really a legit #1 defender, or at least that type of legitimately reachable potential (Weber, Chara, Keith, etc)?

EDIT: I wonder if it could be part of a bigger, monster deal. L. Schenn, B. Schenn, Coburn, Cousins, #41 for Petro, Halak, Oshie?

He's a #1 defender.

Not like a Myers or Meszaros or Coburn MIGHT become a #1 defender. Pietrangelo is legit.

That doesn't mean he's Pronger or Chara or Doughty or Weber.

One thing to note, if we did do this theoretically Schenns for Pietrangelo trade, we'd be losing a lot of physicality across the board.

I think the petro talk is going a little over board right now. Trust me, I am his biggest fan, and having been saying for months his contract negotiations are something to keep an eye on. It's way to early in talks though for them to even listen to offers on him. Like weber if it starts getting into late July I would start to get more and more excited about the possibility. But not right now

I've been trying to come up with an equivalent. Didn't get far, but for argument's sake:

Would you do Giroux for Shattenkirk and P. Berglund?

It is an imperfect example--Giroux is more valuable than Pietrangelo, but Shatty is comfortably more valuable than Luke Schenn and Berglund is at least as valuable as B. Schenn right now (though I think Schenn has the higher ceiling).

That's a #2D, #2C for a franchise-caliber #1C.

I just don't think the Schenns are really that close to getting Pietrangelo.

Let's say Pietrangelo's market value is 6.5m, and he wants 8.0m.

That's like Giroux's market value being 7.5m, and he wants 9.0m.

In fact, he's not budging from 9.0m.

Are you open to trading him for a #2 winger (Simmonds) and a #2 defenseman (Shattenkirk)?

(I know we already own Simmonds, but pretend he was cloned on the Blues.)

Simmonds - Schenn - Voracek
Hartnell - Couturier - Simmonds
xxxxx - Laughton - Read
Rinaldo - xxxxx - Talbot

Shattenkirk - Schenn
Timonen - Coburn
Streit - Grossmann
Gustafsson

Mason
xxxxx

Yeah it is. NHL.com should at least have audio. I don't know if they will have the video stream, but check there first.

With the amount of absolutely INSANELY ridiculous rumors out there league-wide, I'm starting to wonder if the media got together this year and was like, "You know guys. Trade deadlines are boring now. The free-agent market dries up more with each year. We have the draft, but most fans don't give a ****. Let's just try this one year, and this year is perfect for it, where we make up anything and everything. Nothing is sacred or out of bounds. Eklund...we'll have you leading this project. You have the experience."

Watching the pre draft combine and I think Darnell Nurse could be a good fit. Would be really happy if he dropped to us.

It's Ek, so yeah

* The Flyers are talking to many teams, but there are many who feel the Kings and Flyers are as close to finishing a deal as anyone.

Kings don't have a 1st.

Their 2nd is 57th.

They don't have a goalie to give us anymore.

Odd.

Rights to Scuderi for a 5th?

Saw this a couple minutes ago. I can't really think of any trade I would see as a possibility
