Wow, love it.

Went out and bought a Globe and it's to go in storage next to the issues from the cup.

Thank You Blackhawks - Mr Wirtz - Mr McDonough

Grade A stuff.

On the flip side, the Bruins fans mostly respectfully applauded the Blackhawks on their win, and the Let's Go Bruins chant that filled the arena gave me goosebumps. Like, yes, our team lost, but we're going to show them our gratitude. Many fanbases would just hang their heads and put their tails between their legs. Not the Bruins. Awesome.

I couldn't agree with you more. I've been around for 10 championships here in Chicago, and I'd have to say the Boston Bruins fans have been the most appreciative after losing to us than the other 9 I've experienced!

Did that series play out like this one? Not only was the respect not there on the ice, but it was (and still is) pretty clear that the fanbases did/do not like or respect each other.

That Ad cost money to run. Bill Wirtz must be turning over in his grave...

Sad to see how your kids turn out despite your best efforts

LOL, not kidding I literally did.

Class move by the Hawks organization. This series was great for the sport and the show of respect and sportsmanship between the teams and cities is something to be applauded. Didn't turn out how I wanted but really no shame in losing to that team.

So usually when the Bruins lose a series you assume its only because the other team had to resort to classless tactics?

This is not classy. This is the Blackhawks patting themselves on the back and writing a letter that did not need to be written so that they would appear classy. It's like that guy who steals your girlfriend and then pats you on the head and says "no hard feelings, right man?". How great of them.

The fact that so many of you think this is "classy" and all of that nonsense are ridiculous.

It's more like two friends going after the same girl and the one who gets her patting the other on the back at the end and saying, "No hard feelings, right man? We both did everything to deserve her and either one of us could've gotten her."

For a hilarious take on this, everyone should listen to Bill Burr's most recent podcast. Absolute gold.

Very few owners get it. Rocky Wirtz gets it. And teams with owners like that tend to be the most successful.

Ugh OP pumping the Hawks tires, no surprise he's a Hawks fan himself.

Homer thread is homer.

But seriously, very nice gesture by the Hawks, well done.

This. Anyone can be gracious in victory. This is borderline trolling. Though so many people taking it at face value isn't all that surprising in this day and age. Wirtz knows what he's doing.

I love Bill Burr. Listen to the MM podcast every week. I completely agree with what he said.

I recommend everyone check him out if they haven't already. He talks about hockey most weeks and he is a die hard Bruins fan. Funny as hell.

Publicity stunt.

This is no more than "Boston strong" pandering.

Or did I miss the part where the Blackhawks organization wrote similar letters to the other teams they defeated? You better believe a similar letter would never have been written had they beaten some other team in the Cup finals(unless said team had recently been through a highly published disaster)

No doubt. They are both incredibly in debt. Real great job they are doing.

Kinda cool thing to do. Don't really understand it. Its like being dumped then the girl seeing if you're all right the next day.

I guess you're correct, from a hyper-technical standpoint. Anyone can be gracious in victory. Not everyone is, though. You don't have to be a particularly astute sports-scene-observer to be exposed to phrases like "we own you" and "who's your daddy?" from talented but classless victors.

Hard-fought series- well-matched teams- really closer than the 4-2 line in the almanac will indicate.

When I hear major media figures talk about the "art" of trash-talking, instances like this are a refreshing reminder that there's another way. Needless to say, I'm very much O.K. with that...

You guys are so sentimental it's making me tear up.

On a side note, pure publicity stunt. Not impressed. Donate some money to a Boston based relief organization or something, then I may reconsider.
