Not with that cap hit, if its retained then sure, but Vanek is still a UFA in like a year or 2 isn't he?

While schneider is not worth a eberle/hall/rnh type player.

Edler absolutely is, but I can't see the oilers or canucks trading a blockbuster like that within the division.

Reading comprehension for the win !

Who said Gillis is taking those calls even ?

Talk about people blowing stuff out of proportion.

Gillis may as well be hanging up on every caller, leaving me to wonder where the idiot in this scenario lies.

How is Yak valued in comparison to Hall,RNH and Eberle? Not suggesting the Oilers are looking to trade him, just wondering how Oilers fans view him vs. the other big 4 members.

I'm very high on yak, but...

RNH, Yak, Hall, Eberle potential wise.
Hall, RNH, Yak, Eberle value wise.

I'd say there is a fairly large gap between eberle and the other three, he's very expendable imo. The only hesitation I have about moving him is that he and hall are very close.

Yeah 6 years of Edler is'nt worth 1 years of Vanek that's a terrible deal for Vancouver.

Not sure with Carolinas cap situation without salary going back if they could afford to take on Edlers salary.

It would take more than the #5 pick to get a legit top 4 Dman like Edler who is young and signed long term so I guarantee more would be going to Van. I am sure they could make it work.

I've been told that the Penguins and Kristopher Letang are close to a deal. Small details to resolved and contract will be official. #RDS
And just like that, Edler becomes easily the most wanted D-man on the trade market.

That's true tomorrows already July 1st so yeah if Vancouver were to move Edler. It has to be done no later then today or it will be harder, Would love to see him in Detroit though.

I don't really understand why the Canucks would trade Edler. He is a very good defenseman who is on a very sweet deal.

True I'm sure that the #5 is just the starting point for a deal for Edler, I agree it will take far more to get him he's signed to a pretty sweet deal 6 years $30 million. Would love him in Detroit and I know Ken Holland would love to have him also just not sure if we would be willing to give up the pieces to make a deal happen though.
