it's not about consistency it's about value, and Kovalev reputation is very high and his contract is very nice. but again if he can't get 1ppg his value would also go down.
if we would trade Kovalev tough, I would wait till somebody give us what we need not vice versa,it was the samething with theodore last year, if we would have traded theo early in the season we would have got as rumorred hedjuk and aebisher instead of just aebisher.

Aebisher + 2nd round VS Jeff Carter

That's the only trade I would be happy with....

You're a funny guy... you won't be happy soon.

Anyway, I doubt Huet can come back to last year's form, he's decent right now, but is somewhat slow, and in the last games, I saw a glaring weak point, his glove hand... I have more faith in Abby right now, he's more aggressive.

And damn, where do I sign ?? Kovalev, well, he's not Mr. Intensity, when he wants to play he's elite, but he don't want often... and while skill wise, I think he's more talented than Gagne, Gagne skates faster and is decent defensively when having trouble scoring.

Esche would be the backup...

It seems Kovalev is invisible. The reality is, he is always on top of opposing team's "mark man" list. He does not have a lot of space to work with. Every game the opposing teams are sending out top checker to play again Kovalev. Without Kovalev, Koivu will be the next mark man and he won't be as effective without Kovalev taking away the top checker!

I am OK with Kovalev. All Russian are slow starters. Markov.. everytime u have him on ur pool, he'll get 5 points in first 20 games, when u drop him, he'll pile up points.
It's reality. Be patient, sit back and wait

Kovy makes things look easy. I'd take his 4.5 over Gagne and his underserving 5 mill plus. For all the whining he did this off season, you'd think he'd come out to play.

And Esche is a serious downgrade.
I like Gagne, imo, he's similar to Higgins,Lehtonen [the dallas guy, my spelling may be off], a real complete player.

5 is a lot for aguy who has to be with a playmaker, agreed, but what whining did he do ? I don't remember him commenting on his negotiations ?

I swore that if this thread turned out to be a propsal for Gagne I was gonna hurl my monitor to the ground and jump on it.........but I decided to contribute to the thread instead, sooooooooo:
The Oompa Loompa gang and a 4th liner from the Autobots for Gagne. Take it or leave it.

Count me amongst those considered insane then. There's no way that I'd trade Huet and Kovalev for Gagne. Gagne is better than Kovalev, yes, but he's not worth a 1st line winger and a number one goalie.
As for Esche: don't want him anywhere near my team, not even as a backup.

Gagne is way overrated.... I would never do that trade, if I were trading Kovalev and Huet, I'd throw in a first rounder and hope to God San Jose is stupid enough to send me Marleau.....

Well on the Philly board they've really laid into Gagne. I'd do Samsonov straight up. I think that the cap space would be there with Bouillon's injury. I'd also do Huet and Samsonov for Gagne. Don't know that Philly would do these.

I don't want Esche in this trade. I prefer giving the chance to Dannis.

I do not want Gagne with our team. If there where ways to trade for Carter without getting rid of Ryder, Higgin, Komi, Plekaneks I would certainly consider it. Perhaps a package based on Abiesher and Kostsitsyn+ for Jeff Carter would do certainly be a good thing for us...**** if only we had drafted Carter.

Our top 3 lines would look realy good on paper....
Higgins, Koivu, Ryder
Perezhogin, Carter, Kovalev
Samsonov, Plekaneks, Johnson
