Why go BPA at all then?
He hasn't been great because the organizational depth isn't great.

Looking back, since 2005 post lockout, with the except of Staal (2005); Hagelin 2007; Stepan 2008, Anisimov (good, useful player) 2006; Michael Sauer 2005 was a very useful player until his concussion has likely ended his career, the Rangers (Gordie Clark) drafts have been horrid. Cherepanov (picked in 2007) tragically died; Kreider is still up in the air as to his value. They took Bobby Sanguinetti instead of Claude Giroux in 2006. They took MDZ instead of Jordan Eberle and John Carlson in 2008 (I was very disappointed they didn't take Carlson). Girardi was an undrafted free agent. Lundqvist was drafted in 2000. Callahan was drafted in 2004. Most of the rest of the roster was traded for or signed as a free agent. Clark's drafting record in recent years you can definitely question. The 2010-2012 drafts are soon early to judge on.

Yes every team has drafts that you look back on and say; "damn, we could have had player X instead of who we took"; or "damn, we missed on player Y". Overall though, Clark's record as of now from 2005-2010, is below average. Staal is about the closet thing to picking an all star caliber players they have drafted since 2005. Maybe Stepan becomes one in time, but right now, no.

God No two Fa-u-l-ks

More seriously, I think DZ goes and we get a full year to see what Staal's potential recovery is like. However, if a team desperately wants MS, Sather is the one guy I'd bet on to make them overpay.

Going for Bickell? I don't want to overpay for him.

I wouldn't consider it disastrous. But I do think we lost it.

Don't see how it is different than LY with Eminger/Gilroy/Bickel making up the bottom depth.

its not even falk... Del Zotto has played the right side before and didn't look comfortable or too well at all doing it.. can Moore do it? If not we have 4 top LHD in Mcd, Staal, Moore and Del Zotto.. thats kinda weird even before Falk.

No, but it is a big deal when none of your lefties are comfortable playing on the right side. LHD vs RHD doesn't matter. LD vs RD does.

Why? Its spits in the face of any sort of logic that the Rangers can/will make a big move.

I agree, outside of Nash, the Rangers organization really hasn't shown any cojones to go out there and make a big move via trade. Mcdonagh/gomez trade don't count.

Why doesn't the Gomez trade count?

Seriously?

The Rangers showed all kinds of those "cojones" for years. That's how we got Lindros. That's how we got Bure. etc. The fact that the Rangers haven't been doing a ton of that lately is more of a good thing than a bad thing.
