They will have work to do too, that doesn't mean it won't be difficult for both of them. Boston also has the luxury of putting Marc Savard on LTIR and being able to exceed the cap by $4 million.

It is going to be interesting to see what these teams do.

Did you not read the post about championship teams committing 50% of the cap to 5 or less players?

You just signed Mark Streit for 4 years at 5.25 and you're gong to be paying money to Danny Briere and then a goaltender that isn't even on your team anymore...

Nice trolling attempt, but you owned yourself more than your rival team

Yet another genius who doesn't know the difference between a RFA deal and a UFA deal.

Just some hind-sight for these brilliant folks...

Letang's RFA deal is 3.5 million/year

Karlsson's RFA deal is 6.5 million/year

Just wait until that RFA deal goes bye-bye!

It is going to be interesting to see what these teams do.
Boychuk makes a comparable amount, too.

But yes, it will be interesting to see how they flesh out their rosters.

I wouldn't expect a Flyers fan in here having that reasoning. They see Letang signed and just "LOL LOL LOL OVERPAID CAP SPACE HAHA"

This thread needs a title change, it's not even official yet. Letang hasn't signed anything yet.

HF boards is so fickle.

I knew they would re-sign him when Rossi went full Rossi and mentioned teams like Philly, San Jose and Montreal were interested.

Yea, everyone here expects Letang to score every one of his points on his own. Anyone else helping just inflates his numbers.

It's a nice deal in the end. It's high, but worthy. If he can control his mental issues; he's going to win Norris'
No I think he has to not get injured to win a Norris' he would have won it this year had he not.

Although him controlling his composure is the biggest area he needs to improve upon.

Maybe it is a mistake but it makes me very happy as a Pens fan.

Letang may not always be a great player but there is no question he is a great talent. I watch hockey to be entertained. The Pens now have 3 of the world's top TALENTS at their positions locked up for the next decade. No Flyer fan will ever know what that feels like.

The entertainment value for me as a fan will be there every night whether the team wins or not. Seeing how I don't have to sign his paycheck I have no problem with this contract.

I will enjoy watching the world's best talent everynight...and enjoy watching your deeper less talented team never win a cup in my lifetime.

and you are the one acting like a little kid because your team can't land players like the Pens have. good luck breaking the bank for "greatest player in the world" Giroux. after you keep him, good luck doing anything else with that cap space, especially for your much less talented defense.

I must have missed this magical time period when the pens didn't have the majority of their salary cap tied up in 5 or 6 players.
