Look at all the first row seats available. Their pricing is ultimately going to have to change. They can start by yanking out the TVs.

They should sell bridge seats and offer a 5% discount to people who are with Chase or people that enjoy obstructing the view of half the garden.

I can't wait for the stupid things they'll do with the bridge just because they built it and might as well be creative with it. I bet they'll try and do interviews on the bridge.

I don't think they are going to change their pricing structure because they have ~70 seats available. They'll sell eventually. Personally, I agree with everyone who thinks they are overpriced, and that's why I'm dropping mine. But the Rangers think it's a premiere ticket, despite the fact there is no waiter service, the glass is a distraction, the TVs kill the legroom, the concourses are a disaster, and most people who are looking to spend $300/pair want to be downstairs.

The center row 1's are $165 and almost all sold. The corner 1's are $135 and have many unsold. People in NYC will always pay a premium for the best. The center are the best, the corner are not. They will have to adjust those downward I think

Wow, great chart, Gordon. Any chance you can do that at the expiration of the upgrade process to give (hopefully) first time STHs an idea of what's available? From what I understand, the first time you don't get to see all the availability, but rather a rep calls and offers you a particular set.

Just don't see it happening. Perhaps they will freeze the price at $135 next summer. But they chose to raise them $10 for this season, so obviously they had a plan. At the end of the day we're still talking a very few seats, and even less once the relocation and new subscriber process is over. If they still have a couple dozen left they can sell them as individual game tickets and/or discount them to brokers. They'll still be ahead as opposed to not increasing the price on all 400 or however many Row 1 goal seats there are. These guys don't leave money on the table.

You can continue to move around from the time of your appointment until the process ends. But others will enter the process and seats tend to disappear pretty quickly.

I've checked back a few times since my appointment Thursday morning and the selection has basically collapsed at this point in the lower bowl (unless you want to shell out over $300/ticket for some middle-row seats in the center ice sections).

For the Row 1s to be valuable to season ticket holders, MSG will need to change the way they can be posted on TicketsNow, StubHub etc. Right now, the casual single-ticket buyer does not search for those seats, and sees them offered in a list of all seats in the bigger section (e.g. all of Sec 225 is lumped together). It's really hard to make your money back on Row 1 seats during the regular season (and I struggled to break even on them even during the playoffs). I dumped mine in the middle of Section 225 on Thursday morning and they are still available, so the "smart money" subscribers have figured this out.

Barring that, MSG will be stuck using them either as "forced" entry tickets for new subscribers or selling them as single game seats. Which, as pointed out, may not be a bad economic decision for Jimbo and friends.

Those Row 1 seats are overpriced as heck on StubHub. It's getting impossible for a "casual" ticket buyer (what does that even mean) to be able to buy tickets fairly priced. People see the Row 1 prices, and skip them right away. They were going for $250+ a pop last season.

I know for a fact this is not true, at least on TicketsNow. I posted several games last season at my face value and couldn't sell them. And I totally understand why, given someone opening their browser and looking for tickets a week or two forward would see my seats for $180/seat (including the "convenience fee" TN tacks on) and seats one or two rows behind me for ~$100/seat. There's no description of the benefits of the Row 1s on there - personal TVs, improved legroom, perfect sightlines with no obstructions ever, etc.

Did anyone have an appointment today or are they just doing weekdays? I didn't see any movement today in the upper bowl lower rows except 4 seats going away

I'm in 222 row 10. I have been looking for something in 222-226 between row 3 and 9 and it never turned up. I had this optimistic view I move move anywhere I wanted to .

I know everyone talks about row 14+ being blocked out from the bridges, but I really believe they will be in play for row 10. My guess is when I tilt my head up at a 45* angle the bridges will be right there.

The bright side is that those "center" sections (222 and 226 are actually outside of center, but still kinda center) are in high demand which should translate in to the secondary market.

Theres row 2 in 219 and row 4 in 220 that I have my peripheral vision on. I dont think I have the guts to make the move.

Personally, I would not move to the corners or behind the goal for lower rows from center. The bridge maybe an issue but I remember the talk about the safety nets being a distraction too. I had 110 row 8 two years ago and I hated watching through th net and glass.

Why do you say you dont have the 'guts'? I have seats in 221 row 2 and finds them to be some of the best in the NHL and certainl one of the better values in the Garden. Corners are where the scouts sit bc you have a full view of the ice, boards and corners. And the game comes toward and away from you allowing you to watch plays develop.

To each his own, I like Center ice too, don't get me wrong. I'd never want to sit in the 3-5 sections directly behind the net either and would pass on the 219's. But extra leg room, a TV in front of you and 9 rows closer (less bridge risk) for the SAME price in the corner? I continue to be SHOCKED that seats like the 220's (or those 209 row 2's) are available...

The four corner sections 221, 214, 208 and 227 have available 31, 34, 58 and 36 seats respectively. I would think those are value seats tht would get gobbled up. People seem willing to take higher rows center rather than lower corners. There's pair in row 4 of 214 on aisle next to 213. Someone should grab them unless I'm missing something or maybe there is obstruction from the glass between the sections.

Not sure if the upgrade will still be going on, but I have an appointment 7/11 for selecting seats (did not renew, so technically not upgrading) -- this is before they go on sale to "the general public" as they say.

Were you a 1/2 season or mini-plan subscriber last year?
