Meh for Dallas. Not a fan of Horvat at 10. Would prefer Ristolainen or Domi.

Would also prefer Petan to Klimchuk.

Pulock doesn't fit the M.O. But you're in very good company, thinking that the Wings will draft a defenseman; for some reason or another, almost every professional writer putting in their two cents as to who the Wings will end up drafting project the Wings taking a defenseman, even with Joe McDonnell's enlightening insight. The Wings want a big, skilled forward in the first round, McDonnell has no reason to lie or cover up their intentions. The Wings would be willing to take a defenseman that really wows them, but that would likely be any of 1)Ristolainen, 2)Zadorov, or 3) Nurse. Why? Size, skill, and enough tangible evidence to suggest a very high likelihood of success.

I'd swear that people are just oblivious to the mindset of the Wing's front office going into the draft, and for people who don't follow the Wings or haven't seen any of the quotes from Wings scouting and general management that illustrate their mindset, that's only to be expected, but it seems more likely that professional sports columnists in Detroit who are covering the draft and projecting the Wings to take a defenseman are simply ignoring what's right in front of them.

Case in point: http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index....layers_on.html

4/6 of these mock draft outcomes are defenseman. Zadorov is the only realistic defensive choice on that list, and simply because they couldn't say no if he was available.

I can give you a draft scenario for the Wings that is equally realistic with most of the choices coming from the press:

The Wings trade their first round 2013 pick (18) and Calle Jarnkrok to Tampa Bay in return for the #3 pick in 2013

The Wings then draft Valeri Nichushkin, because he is a big, skilled forward and would bring home the bacon on a nightly basis.

Equally realistic.

If Wennberg or Lazar or Horvat drop to Detroit them they will pick one of them. I was thinking of giving Zadorov to Detroit but change my mind. Hagg as been a very interesting prospect and felt that Hagg would be a target but I think it might be a tad too early to take him there.

The reason I took Hartman at 20th for the San Jose is because they're biggest need is getting power Foward (RW) and Hartman is all that and more. The kid could go top 15 and I wouldn't be shock.

Morrissey would be an awesome pickup. I'm happy from the Canucks POV.

Domi is a good pick for the Jets. Zadorov otherwise.

What on earth makes you think their biggest need is getting a powerforward??

I agree !! Was hard to chose but I felt that Buffalo needed a big Foward with hands. He may
Not wow Anyone but he's one of the most consistent player from the draft.

Look at their need and it says

WEAKNESSES
Depth at right wing
Overtly physical power forwards
Little blue-chip talent at any position

Hartman is all of them put in one package .

I think Rychel is going to seem underrated in retrospect.

I agree with us that I see Morrissey a flames property. I m hoping that Monahan get taken at 6th overall by the flames.

Where'd you get that, Hockey's Future? Besides, Hartman is not even close to blue-chip talent, which is my main problem with the pick. Give me Zykov, he's all three of those things and much, much better tham Hartman.
