Echl.com finally has updated their website, finally making game sheets available in a timely manner instead of box scores updated whenever......

9245 people came out to see the Charlotte Checkers in their season opener at Charlotte Bobcats Arena and they certainly got their money's worth, as the Checkers demolished the Wheeling Nailers 10-3.

Graham 2G, Petruzalek 4A, Kozak 1G, Bahensky 1G, Constant 2A, and Mark Lee with the big 1G4A night. (Dusty Jameison netted a hat track as well). Shots were 42-23 in Charlotte's favor. Holt made 20 saves, recovering nicely after allowing Wheeling to score 2 early goals (He also saved a penalty shot).

The ECHL wasn't kidding when they said league officials would be cracking down hard on obstruction fouls this season. The Checkers were awarded 18 power plays and converted on 8 of them (Wheeling went 1-for-5). And that's not counting the 3 fights (Gillies/McNeill, Vondrazka/McNeill, and Vondrazka/Bissonnette).

Petruzalek skated with Jamieson and Bellefuille. Potter and Constant were paired on the blueline.
Ren Fauuci was put on the 7-Day IR before the game. Deschamps and Nightengale were the healthy scratches.

I noticed Jameison seems to do well at the ECHL, is his skating keeping him out of the AHL? Maybe Petruzalek will be back with the pack before the end of the year if he plays like he did tonight. He is small but skilled, if he can work on his defensive game, he can surprise some people. Please name ur players that have a good chance to get some time with the Pack this year once injuries or callups to the Rangers happen.

Jamieson, 25 is actually a pretty good skater and has good speed. He tends to get knocked off the puck by stronger guys. Has great stick work and obviously a nose for the net.

There was an article in the Charlotte Observer a few days back about how he was ready to call it quits last season and become a cop in Ontario. Coach Derek Wilkinson talked him into playing again. Heres the link http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlot...s/15784814.htm

good to see Petruzalek and Graham doing well. Lee looks good, maybe the rangers will sign him. I hope Bahensky starts to produce.

-So over two games, the Checkers scored 15 goals and put 96 shots on net. They went 11 for 40 on the power play (and killed off 10 of 12). Mark Lee (1G7A), Dusty Jamieson (6G1A), and Jakub Petruzalek (0G7A) are ranked 1st, 2nd, and 4th on the ECHL scorer's list.

NYR469- No idea what the lines are as the team is spending so much time on special teams, regular lines rarely get a chance to play...

AHall-The Rangers aren't going to sign Lee while he is playing in the ECHL. What would be the point? Also, Bahensky is doing fine. Since when is 1 goal in 2 games a slow start?

The Checkers beat the hapless Pensacola Ice Pilots (Isles/SoundTigers affiliates) 5-2 on Halloween night in a penalty-and-fhight-filled game. Charlotte had to do without the redhot Jakub Petruzalek, who was called up to Hartford before the game. 2G for Graham, 2A for Potter, 1A for Lee, and 1A for Holt. Holt was the winner with 44 saves (around half in the 3rd period, when the Checkers were already up 5-1).

Bmoak, I appreciate you keeping the board updated on the goings on in the ECHL. It's the one league I always forget to check each night, so I look forward to reading your posts. Keep it up.

Just to catch up. Steve MacIntyre signed with the Quad-City Mallards in the UHL. He suited up for 3 games (31 PIM), then left the team for "personal reasons" and announced his retirement. He has moved back to Charlotte several Checkers fans have talked to him in the stands at games.
