Every shot on goal from now until the day Luongo leaves is going to be hyper-scrutinized in the context of this deal. If Luongo thought he had pressure on him before - holy crap - he ain't seen nothing yet, now that we traded away the heir-apparent to Martin f'ing Brodeur in order to keep him.

The only thing we can hope for is that Lu outperforms Schneider when it counts.

Luongo is in a position to really rebuild his image. It's almost like a fresh start for him now. If he comes in and has a good season, they will be chanting "Luu" in the arena again

How long until one of our young Swedish netminders push for Luongo's job?

Lou could still be traded and I think he will be within the next 2 years.

I can just see Aquilini hiding out on the side of the street in his car waiting for MG to give him the go ahead to tell Lu what's going on.

You say this as though Roberto is responsible for the Schneider trade.

The two people who should feel the most pressure concerning the Canucks' fate going forward are:

1) Mike Gillis: signing Luongo to an untradeable contract

2) Aquaman: for refusing to let Gillis use a CBO on Luongo

You sign a player to a 743-year contract and he gets you to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals the following Spring, he's your starter for the longhaul.

Are you sure it's not just you procuring that completely artificial pressure because you feel the Canucks didn't trade the goalie you happen to like better?

Because that's suuuure what it seems like.

That's one of the reasons why I'm fine with moving Schneider. We have so many promising young goalies to go with the still performing Luongo. No need to dump an asset because the first heir apparent is ready. Not when that's the only position where you have depth worth something in a deal.

no, he's already faced the greatest pressure any goaltender can ever face. he'll be fine mentally.

I don't like the trade on 2 counts- Schneider is a top 5 NHL goalie and will be for at least a decade.
Luongo doesn't want to be in Vancouver.
There are more reasons but these ones are particularly poisoness.

I wonder whether Lack or Eriksson is any where near ready to be a starter. I'm pretty high on Lack and it seems like every year a goaltender comes out of no where to take a job, whether it's a backup or starter role. It would clear up some major cap room.

The question now becomes will Luongo report and what does this do to his moral and the teams moral.

I find it funny that some are saying the Canucks got older today. Well technically everyone did since everyone's a day older than they were yesterday, but we did not get older. We picked up 2 future cornerstones of our organization and traded a goalie. How exactly did we get older?

He's got 6.714 million reasons to report.

And people are afraid Luongo will retire early and pass up a million or two; this is $6.714 million we're talking about NOW.

No kidding. People invested in Schneider prematurely and now they are looking for a way of validating their emotions.

I think Eriksson is slightly ahead of him on the depth chart due Lack barely playing last season... and Eriksson having a stellar one.

Considering this has been going on for over a year or whatever and Luongo thinking he was moving on... a face to face seems appropriate
