Always happy to pick gritty players from the Q. Always seem to have good hands so that they don't look completely useless. Even in a 3rd line role.

I like that we are drafting multi-dimensional players this year. After selecting a few coke machines over the last few years, it's nice to see a guy like Roy who is talented in a few different areas.

Good, we need more defensively responsible speedy wingers to drive the net. Sounds like a servicable bottom 6 forward. Does he park in front of the net on the power play? With Hartikainen bolting for the KHL we have next to nobody in the system that can do that.

He does, but he'll need to bulk up to do it in the NHL. I've seen him play perimeter in the Q as well, but he's stood in front of the net when paired with the smaller Clapperton.

The Hockey News ranked him 58th.

Some comments from them:

"He's one of those guys who's going to go in the 2nd rd and years from now people are going to say, 'how did they get this guy in the 2nd rd?' a scout said. 'He's going to be a great 2nd rd pick. I wouldn't be surprised if someone jumps up and takes him in the first'. "

It then went on and said lots of more good things about him

If he ends up a Burrows/Marchand type, I'll be thrilled

I hope so. We really need a 2nd round pick to turn into a player like that, a Patrice Bergeron or a Krejci or a Marchand.

Doesn't sound off the board for a 2nd rounder. Just wish I could figure out his actual position. TSN says he's a RW, hockey DB says he's a center and he shoots left. If he prefers the left side that's great for us.

He's played RW every time I've seen him.

Would have preferred Zykov?

He was the BPA at that point.

Eric Comrie. unless you feel good enough about Dubnyk and Olivier Roy/Tyler Bunz and a bunch of question marks in the system moving forward? the table was set twice for the Oilers to take either Tristan Jarry or Comrie and they passed both times.

We're gonna go heavy on European Goalies in the 22-25 range in the coming years. MacT basically said we're already setting up a bigger scouting department to focus on Europeans.

Oilers have wasted enough picks on goalies over the years. I don't know how you can project what an 18 year old goalie is going to do or be ready for your team.

As far as Zykov goes, we didn't need him bad enough in that spot and got players later that are just as good or better.

2nd round isn't for BPA. It's for guys you like and the guys the Oilers liked they felt they could get later and did.

i know none of them project to be hall of fame goalies....but neither did any of the dudes past fucale.....

hell...maybe he'll just sign a Euro/NCAA goalie and get the new scrivens/fasth

Yep, that goalie would be great for us... in six years.
