Longest sentence ever too. My favorite part was that Detroit is looking to reload they're arsenal. I also enjoyed how he threw in Carolina's 5th pick in there as if it's relevant to anything he's saying

And we get it you don't like Murray. You can stop going out of your way every post to make it apparent you have no faith in him.

That terrible article couldn't be farther from the truth. The Wings beat writer even addresses Bobby Ryan in this here

VL is not coming, that's not a Murray move. A Murray move is signing a 3rd or 4th liner and trying to sell us he can play top 6 minutes
I completely agree. Lydman, Koivu and Fasth were clear mistakes from the start, and signing Emery mid-season to get us into the playoffs after Hiller got vertigo was idiotic when we finally had the ability to get the overall #1 that year. The guy never manages to do anything right.

It's funny because although likely correct about Ryan, this article is also all kinds of homerifically horrible as well.

As i`ve said it before, fourthperiod have been pretty reliable in the past.

Now it stating this:

Seguins situation is similar to Ryans - managers state that they are listening to offers but will accept only if that offer ''blows away''. In other words - only if someone overpays.

Also:

Dallas is meeting with Lecavalier today but we were named in few teams that are interested in him: http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/dal130629.html
So at least Bob is interested in and will try to get him. But i think other teams will pay higher $`s

UPDATE: we have already met with him: http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/mtl130629.html

While I think Vinny coming here is a longshot, I do find it a positive that he met with us. Sure guys meet with a lot of teams as a ufa but usually it's to gain leverage or because they are truly a team that interests them. Everybody in the league knows we are not a team to provide a player leverage in his negotiating with others. We may well be Tampa west (good weather, low profile private life) with a good strong core and a team that could go all the way, especially with what Vinny could bring to our enigma of a second line.

Here's hoping for a surprise signing in ANA by Vinny.

Calls for Anaheim's Bobby Ryan have kept coming in. It'll be interesting to see if anyone steps up and pays ANA's price.

Staal also had nothing to do with money, and everything to do with playing with his brother.

Anyways, it amuses me on here that people assume that not getting a player/trade means the GM is doing absolutely nothing. People cry hes not doing anything, but if he makes a Ryan trade that doesn't have enough value, or signs a FA to a overpriced contract (what it could take to sign the player) they will just complain about that instead and say he should have waited.

So letang signed that contract afterall. Negotiation leaks are hardly ever trustworthy.

I knew Letang would end up re-signing in Pittsburgh. Way too much risk letting him go with a only Paul Martin capable of playing top pairing minutes.

From Lebrun: Montreal, Detroit and Anaheim inquired on Alex Edler. Wings made an offer. Habs may circle back. But nothing close at this point

From Stephens: Murray acknowledged Alex Edler rumors and said you have to make phone call but intimated Canucks solved some of their cap issues today.

I'd pay Vinny 5x5. Just give him Ryan's money.

The thing is, they really didn't. Unless a buy out is coming for Keith Ballard(and it probably should be either way), they still have some issues. They have an entire bottom six to fill and only $4 million to do it, that's not gonna cut it. Vancouver continues to baffle me.

Really wouldn't be surprised to see Edler dealt tonight, the NTC seems to scare them, although it really shouldn't. Have to think we'd have to take on close to the full hit, though, and I wonder how we'd manage that, both with assets given up and with the cap.

Hard to believe we'll be big players in FA. Didn't do anything today, so I'd suspect anything which would make the team 'not the same team' would be through trade.

And how exactly did the Canucks resolve their cap issues?

In regards to the NTC - is there still a rule in place where the team who acquires the player with the NTC doesn't have to honor it?

That and he landed 2 pretty big FA's for us in Perry and getzlaf.

I wouldn't consider re-signing our guys as landing 2 FA's. It's just retaining an asset you already have at your disposal.

I really wouldn't. The money's not so bad, but there's no way you can justify giving a guy his agre 5 years at that price.

I would've liked him, but I am fine with it. I just wish he'd take quite a bit of time making a decision and allow us to sneak in and grab another FA center. I have a feeling both Weiss and Bozak are going to sail under the radar.

I imagine it didn't change, I just can't remember how it works. I know if a player waives it to go to your team, you don't have to honor it from that point on, but unsure you can do that if you acquire the guy before it kicks in. My best guess is that if, hypothetically, we do acquire Edler tonight, we don't have to honor it. But I could very well be wrong.

Maybe one of our pro scouts can convince Bozak to sign here.
