A college boy from the United States ? That's very Timmins to me.

Bergevin said last year's draft was about scoring, this year's draft was about addressing size and character. He wasn't looking for a Zykov or a Mantha, he was looking for guys who complemented Collberg, Bozon and Hudon.

His quote: "Certain players get you into the playoffs, other players get you through the playoffs." I can't say I disagree with him.

I think Bergevin saw that we had a glaring hole in our prospect pool and felt he had to address it. I can't say I disagree with him. With limited number of contracts, I don't see a reason to draft another Collberg. This shows faith in who we drafted last year. I'm really excited that we finally know what it takes to win, that to me makes way more of a difference than one draft.

In a few years-

Pacioretty - Lecavalier - Gallagher
Bozon - Galchenyuk - Collberg
De La Rose - Eller - McCarron
Moen - White - Prust

Upside aside, that's pretty damn good balance of size and skill in a lineup.

Has anybody ever heard of giving the player time and actually seeing him play? He is very raw but if he improves his skating and other stuff he could be a hell of a 2-3 liner. That being said I did want hartman

People who hate this pick just tell yourselves :

He's the forward version of Jarred Tinordi. A huge and mean physical player who has decent skating for his size and may have untapped offensive potential.

Personally i like it

Say what ya want,I'm very happy Habs are finally getting it in size grit dept....

So in 3-4 years will know what Mike is all about, until then, good luck Mike in your development, welcome to the Habs.Seriously consider going to London Ont to play, wise career move.

One thing to remember is you can teach skating ,shooting etc,but you cant teach 6'7 255lbs...They dont grow on trees.....

That's how I see it. Montreal's best crease guy right now is Brian Gionta. Gionta won't be on the Habs when he comes up but when he does, I bet he'll be just what the Canadiens want.

I don't see him on the Habs until he's 21 or 22 but that's fine. Let him bloom.

Can't wait to see him goon it up on our 3rd and 4th line. If he doesn't improve his skating then there is no way he could play with the top 6. Coulda got him 1-2 picks later

Gallagher is the best crease guy. I'm not going to complain having a monster body standing in front of the net.

Was Tinordi a Timmins-like pick?

Not sure what to think but I am NOT against this pick. McCarron type is sorely needed. Will he pan out? If he does not, it won't be the first 25th pick to miss. If he does make it, awesome! Habs need size that can play!

I was hoping we could get him with the 34th but he was definitely on my list (had him at 27th).

I am extremely pumped about this pick...I was on the fence before the draft about using our 25th on him. But, did you see the size of that kid? He is a giant man and he is only 18 years old. Definitely what this team needs. Great pick and I hope I can reference this post in a few years when he is a fan favourite!

I would not like to stand on his way if I was a hockey player. Guy looks like he could kill you with a hit.

Gallagher is quite good too. Very true.

Guy reminds me of the Winklevoss brothers in Social Network. Wish we drafted two of him lol

Wow, what a monster.

Obviously the issue with him translating to the big leagues isn't going to be size, but rather if he can develop his game well enough. I hope he chooses London but that's just me (great program, + you play a lot more hockey)

A project for sure, but high reward if everything works out.

I'd like Grant to come in and say what he feels about this.

McCarron has a brother that was drafted by Edmonton last year.
