Very smart move........kind of ridiculous that so many posters on here can't figure out such an obvious strategy.
Maybe because we see interesting names still on the board? Think a little.

Peter Quenneville

-He is the second cousin of Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup-winning coach Joel Quenneville and Boston Bruins defenseman, Johnny Boychuk, is his uncle by marriage.

I found that interesting lol

7th rounder, what happened to pick 206?

Florida picked at that spot.

Completely agree. We already had a top-10, fairly deep prospect pool before this draft and we made it even better tonight.

You always wish you can add a big guy with some better offensive ability but those guys are not available later on. I'm hopeful in the future we can work on that.

So that's all forwards save for 1 goalie. Not bad.
We only drafted 1 defenseman last year too (Thrower).

In the last two years we had 15 picks - 13 forwards, 1 defenseman, 1 goalie.

Pretty interesting.

Le #CH va inviter le coéquipier de Sven Andrighetto, Jean-Sébastien Dea des #Huskies à son camp de développement la semaine prochaine.

Murphy of Halifax would be a good invite too.

Andrighetto is too old, will play next year as a 20 year old, probably AHL.

Both are very logical moves.

I was never a fan of Dea, though. I have doubts about Andrighetto, but I don't see anything at all beyond juniors for Dea.

"The biggest winner has to be the Montreal Canadiens by far. Holy **** did they hit home runs on pretty much their first 3-4 picks. I hate it as a Leaf fan but how can you hate on their draft. I love De La Rose and Fucale as prospects, ****"

Some nice words from the main board.

Yet many around here, myself included, feel the Habs could of done better.

Anybody have Timmins audio regarding the picks like we had last year? There wasn't time to do pick by pick this year but just wondering if there's any audio out there post draft.

So what happened with Habs trying to move up.

I was listening to Martin McGuire on 98.5 and it seems that the Habs had a deal to get the 9th pick from Vancouver and at the last minute they decided to pick Horvat.
This pick would have been done to get Samuel Morin.

Habs wanted to add size and having picked Morin would have allowed them to wait till second round to get McCarron.

Anyone has more information, Audio or anything?

I was a bit disappointed with the draft but I'm warming up to it. When you take it on its own it can leave a lot to be desired but when you look at our prospect pool as a whole now it does look better. We've added some things that we were lacking (size, toughness, goalie depth) and then we've added a couple of high potential forwards (Lehkonen and Andrighetto). I still would have liked a minute eating defenseman though as most of our D prospects look more like bottom pairing Ds but hey, you can't have everything.

If true, MB should thank god that it didn't happen... terrible!

Note : By terrible I mean that it would be terrible to waste assets to move up to get Morin but even more terrible to pick Morin at 9th overall (yeah I know that the Flyers took him at 11th but it was still a bad pick IMO).
