Now that we're keeping Richards, it seems less likely.

Just about any move seems less likely with Richards.

Still don't agree with that decision.

I see one average 1rst line, an average/below average 2nd line and 2 4th lines. The defense is good though. Should make for some nice low scoring games.

Nice.
I see something like this;

Kreider- Stepan- Nash
Richards- Brassard- Callahan
Hagelin- Boyle- Dorsett
AHL ****- AHL ****- AHL ****

Either way it doesn't look good for us next year. I'm hoping for the best though.

@DarrenDreger reported that Lecavalier camp looking at five years, $5 million per. Murray said too much for him on both.

Looks terrible to me. So many question marks and I lol'd at Hagelin on the 3rd line when he's been the team's top LWer the past 2 seasons. Kid gets no respect here!

I still thinking we should move Boyle, Pyatt, and Powe just to free up some cap space. Also make a move to get a 4th line center who is cheaper than Boyle, maybe Lapierre or Gordon.

Kreider-Richards-Nash
Hagelin-Stepan-MZA
Miller/Thomas-Brassard-Callahan
Haley-Lapierre/Gordon-Dorsett
Asham

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-DelZotto
Moore-Stralman
Falk-Eminger

Too much for anyone with a brain. I'd do two years tops for anyone being bought out.

You'd think he'd be okay with $1 million a year since he's getting paid for the next 14 years regardless if he plays or not.

I'm actually kind of surprised...I thought VL would take a one year deal, then re-sign back with the Lightning.

Show me a prominant player--who hadn't been exiled to the minors--who agreed to that kind of salary after being bought out.

I wasn't exactly serious.

$5 million per year for five years is ridiculous for a player like Lecavalier. I think he'll get it because teams will bid for him.

Way too high of a cap hit.

The term is what gets me, VL is definitely a good player, these guys though have had some up and down years at a high cap hit which is what led them to where they are. So I can't commit to any of them for 5 years, gotta show me something first.

It's all about supply and demand--Lecavalier is not yet 35, so there are no issues there and is pretty much the best center available for cash only. He could definitely make a team better down the middle. Someone will take a chance--maybe not for 5 years, but 3-4 easy.

I agree. From what you said, he's the best center available... Teams will fight for him. I'd love to have Lecavalier if we bought out Richards, but not for that price tag. Not worth it for playing 2nd line minutes.

I'd still be interested in Burmistrov, but he'd definitely force Brass or Richards to the wing. If we could pry Zach Redmond from Winnipeg in the deal without giving up much more than say MDZ, I'm all for that. Can hope those KHL rumors ruin Burmi's value, and that Redmond continues to develop well.

Give Richards the most sheltered offensive zone starts and I think he could have a great season. Probably better with him this season than without. Injury risk and all.

Is Burmistrov really so good at center that he will force either Richards or Brassard to the wing? He doesn't seem that great on faceoffs, doesn't have a lot of points--is his potential that of a shutdown center or is there something more there?

Haven't seen him enough to really understand the continuing fascination with him.

the idea is he would play the shutdown 3C role that AV wants to have. Which Brass and Richie are incapable of doing.

He's good in his own end, and has the chance to develop into a good two way player, with a ceiling of 2nd line center, though realistically I think he's more along the lines of an Anisimov, capable of playing as a tweener, but best served as 3c on a deep team. He can be cost effective if he doesn't bolt to the KHL, and could be part of a great two way, high energy, scoring third line. It's a buy low, hope for the best kind of trade.

And that's his ceiling? Really hope that his faceoffs dropped off last year cause he didn't take that many faceoffs and was just over 47%--not really a shutdown centermen's numbers, especially if he's expected to take most of the draws in the defensive zone. Not sure he's really worth a just turned 23 year old defenseman who is already capable of scoring 40 points in a season.

Thanks--but is it really a buy low situation if the price is Del Zotto?

Not as a one for one swap, not in this lifetime. There has to be more coming, and I'd take a good long look at a prospect like Redmond, good shot, good size and skating ability, right handed offensive Dman. He could possibly replace Del Zotto's production in his first season, and if not is likely to come close. Would love to see him paired with Moore.

You're talking about Zach Redmond? Replacing Del Zotto's production?

If the Jets think that, they'd be crazy to trade him.
